ABC Executives Reportedly in 'Panic Mode' as 'Pro-Trump' Changes Loom for 'The View': Report
ABC's daytime talk show "The View" has long been known for its intense opposition to President-elect Donald Trump, particularly over the past eight years.
The show has consistently portrayed Trump supporters in a negative light, often labeling them as racists, sexists, and worse. The show's lack of balanced coverage, especially after Trump's 2024 presidential victory, has not gone unnoticed by higher-ups.
According to a striking report by the New York Post, "ABC News brass are in 'panic mode'" as the Disney-owned network considers adjusting the show's strongly partisan tone. The outlet highlighted that ABC News executives are actively seeking "conservative voices to balance the rabid anti-Trump rhetoric spewed by the hosts on 'The View,' as well as those on other shows."
The timing of this shift seems deliberate. The Post reported that the decision came after "high-level meetings" prompted by Trump's decisive win on Nov. 5.
The report specified that “ABC News Group President Debra OConnell and her recently elevated boss of ABC News Almin Karamehmedovic held the intense sit-downs with executive producers of the network’s various shows and other senior editorial leaders.”
It seems that addressing the political slant of “The View” is a top concern for the network. As a source informed the Post, “The View is facing pressure from higher-ups. Viewers can expect some major changes including bringing in new panelists that can bring in a pro-Trump perspective.”
The insider didn’t mince words about the show. Pointing out that the entire panel had supported failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris, the source remarked, “They lost. They are out of touch with America.”
“For a show about different perspectives, ‘The View’ doesn’t seem to have any when it comes to Trump,” the source further criticized, adding, “ABC bosses don’t want to alienate the pro-Trump demographic.”
Despite the planned changes, ABC may already have alienated many Trump supporters. A significant example cited was the only presidential debate between Trump and Harris, which drew widespread criticism for what many saw as biased moderation in Harris' favor.
There were also earlier controversies, such as when ABC News moderator Linsey Davis made casual connections between Trump and the Ku Klux Klan.
It’s important to note, however, that ABC has denied the claims made in this report, according to Newsweek.
