AOC Makes Unhinged Claims After Trump’s Historic Victory

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez added to what many see as the Democratic Party’s heightened warnings following President-elect Donald Trump’s substantial victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, voicing concerns about entering an era of “fascism” and “authoritarianism.”

As results on Tuesday night confirmed Trump’s win, the New York Democrat addressed her followers on social media, sharing her perspective.

“I’m not here to sugarcoat what we all are about to collectively experience,” Ocasio-Cortez stated, suggesting people “prepare” by “building community” and emphasizing that “we don’t have a choice.” She continued, “Our choice is to build. Our choice is to continue to fight. Our choice is to win. Our choice is to have each other.”

She warned of “a political period that will have consequences for the rest of our lives,” and urged people to persevere. “We now find ourselves in a time in history that has precedent... where there are, let’s say, peers in history of mass movements of people that mobilize to protect one another in times of fascism and authoritarianism. And this is the era that we are poised to enter,” she asserted without offering evidence.

Ocasio-Cortez expressed concern over Trump’s statements on deploying the military against “domestic political enemies.” She remarked, “Authoritarians and people that he affiliates closely with and strongmen abroad in regimes like that... often jail political dissidents or legislative opponents. This is the world that we very realistically may be entering.” Her suggested solution: “building a very strong social fabric and social infrastructure.”

It’s worth noting that U.S. law is explicit about limitations on using the military domestically, and while Trump, as president, would act as commander-in-chief, the military is bound to reject illegal orders.

Also, during the Biden-Harris administration, efforts have been made to prosecute Trump, their political rival. However, these cases appear to be losing momentum, and Special Counsel Jack Smith, who filed charges via the Justice Department, is reportedly expected to resign before Trump’s inauguration, per recent reports.

Meanwhile, Trump has publicly shared his goals to “dismantle” what he calls the “deep state” and tackle Washington’s “corruption.”

In a video, Trump outlined a ten-point plan aimed at restructuring the federal government, especially focusing on national security and intelligence sectors. His vision involves enacting executive orders, implementing reforms, and changing the government’s structure. A key focus is on enhancing openness and accountability.

“My plan is to destroy the deep state and take back our democracy from corrupt Washington once and for all—and corrupt it is,” Trump stated. He added, “First, I will instantly reissue my 2020 Executive Order that gives the President the power to fire bad bureaucrats, and I will use that power very strongly.”

A primary point in Trump’s plan involves a thorough review of intelligence and national security agencies, which he asserts are “used against political opponents.” He explained, “We will get rid of all the corrupt people in our national security and intelligence apparatus.”

In addition, Trump aims to reform these agencies to prevent targeting of “conservatives, Christians, and other people seen as political enemies,” while proposing changes to the FISA courts to prevent them from merely approving intelligence requests without scrutiny.

Trump also promised a “major crackdown” on government leaks, vowing to pursue those who provide classified information to the media among other key reforms.
