AOC Mocked For Spewing Falsehoods During House Floor Rant

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., became the subject of widespread mockery on social media following a passionate speech she gave on the House floor on Tuesday, where she made unsubstantiated and incorrect claims about Republicans and their stance on women’s rights.
Ocasio-Cortez voiced her opposition to the "Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act," a bill that passed with 216 House Republicans and two Democrats in favor, and 206 Democrats, including Ocasio-Cortez, voting against it. In her speech, she criticized Republicans for voting against the "Violence Against Women Act" and made a controversial and inaccurate claim about their views on abortion rights.
"Republicans who have voted consistently against the Violence Against Women Act, who have taken away the right of all women to choose and have control over their own body, who, as women are bleeding out in parking lots across the country, standing there, allowing us to die, now want to pretend today that they care about women!" Ocasio-Cortez argued.
Currently, abortion rights are protected by state law in 21 states and the District of Columbia, with President-elect Trump asserting that, under his administration, abortion rights will be determined by state law, as per the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 2022 ruling.
Ocasio-Cortez also made controversial claims regarding the bill's impact on young girls, suggesting it would lead to gender-based examinations.
"And why? To open up gender, and yes, genital examinations into little girls of this country, in the so-called name of attacking trans girls!" she said.
However, the bill does not include any provisions requiring genital examinations for girls to participate in sports. Ocasio-Cortez and other Democrats opposing the bill have raised this concern, although it is not mentioned in the legislation itself. The bill, which is focused on ensuring fair play in women’s sports, defines sex as an individual’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth, making it illegal for men to compete in women’s sports.
The bill has sparked heated debate, with Ocasio-Cortez continuing her advocacy for trans inclusion in women’s sports. She criticized opponents of the bill as “bigoted” and reaffirmed her belief that "Trans girls are girls!" Despite facing significant pushback from her own party and liberal media figures on the issue of trans inclusion, Ocasio-Cortez remains steadfast in her views.
Actually @AOC, real feminists love this bill. https://t.co/nIZnkoUegA

Ocasio-Cortez’s speech was met with backlash online, with many mocking her false accusations. "Actually, real feminists love this bill," Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) responded on X. "This is what @AOC thinks about the over 70% of Americans who don’t want men in women’s sports or locker rooms," the women’s advocacy group Independent Women’s Voice tweeted. The Libs of TikTok account also mocked Ocasio-Cortez’s comments, asking, “Why does AOC want boys to beat up girls?”
