Arnold Schwarzenegger Reveals Who He’s Endorsing In 2024 Race
Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced his endorsement in the 2024 presidential race, backing Kamala Harris and citing concerns over a potential Trump presidency as leading to “four more years of bulls—.”
In a detailed post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, the former California governor and Hollywood star laid out his reasons for supporting Harris.
Schwarzenegger started by acknowledging his aversion to endorsements: “I don’t really do endorsements. I’m not shy about sharing my views, but I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians. I also understand that people want to hear from me because I am not just a celebrity, I am a former Republican Governor,” he wrote.
Reflecting on his time as governor, Schwarzenegger explained how his focus on policy over politics drove many of his successes: “My time as Governor taught me to love policy and ignore politics. I’m proud of the work I did to help clean up our air, create jobs, balance the budget, make the biggest infrastructure investment in state history, and take power from the politicians and give it back to the people when it comes to our redistricting process and our primaries in California,” he said, further adding that policy “requires working with the other side, not insulting them to win your next election.”
Schwarzenegger expressed dissatisfaction with both major political parties, stating, “Let me be honest with you: I don’t like either party right now. My Republicans have forgotten the beauty of the free market, driven up deficits, and rejected election results. Democrats aren’t any better at dealing with deficits, and I worry about their local policies hurting our cities with increased crime.”
Despite his frustration with politics, Schwarzenegger admitted he “can’t tune out,” especially when it comes to core American values. “Rejecting the results of an election is as un-American as it gets,” he said, adding that “calling America a trash can for the world is so unpatriotic, it makes me furious.”
Identifying himself as “an American before I am a Republican,” Schwarzenegger declared his vote for Harris and Tim Walz: “I’m sharing it with all of you because I think there are a lot of you who feel like I do. You don’t recognize our country. And you are right to be furious.”
He criticized Washington’s gridlock, noting how politicians thrive on “talking points to win elections” rather than taking action on issues like the national debt and immigration reform. He described the political landscape as “a game to them,” but “life for my fellow Americans.”
Schwarzenegger didn’t mince words when addressing Trump’s leadership style: “A candidate who won’t respect your vote unless it is for him, a candidate who will send his followers to storm the Capitol while he watches with a Diet Coke,” he said, referencing Trump, “won’t solve our problems.”
The former governor concluded by urging Americans to vote, saying, “I want to move forward as a country, and even though I have plenty of disagreements with their platform, I think the only way to do that is with Harris and Walz.” He encouraged citizens to vote this week, adding, “even if you disagree with me, vote, because that’s what we do as Americans.”
