Barron Trump Recognized as a 'True Gentleman' for Handshake with Biden and Harris

Barron Trump has been widely praised for his conduct and gestures toward President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris during Monday's inauguration.

The youngest and tallest son of former President Donald Trump made headlines after shaking hands with Biden and Harris, following his mother, former First Lady Melania Trump, despite the harsh rhetoric directed at his father during the 2024 campaign by the now-outgoing administration.

President Trump, inaugurated as the 47th president, took his oath of office using two Bibles: one gifted to him by his mother during childhood and the other previously used by President Abraham Lincoln, which he also utilized during his 2016 inauguration.

However, it was 18-year-old Barron, now attending New York University, who captured social media's attention with his symbolic gesture of goodwill.

A post on X by independent journalist Nick Sortor, accompanied by a video of the handshake, stated: "Barron Trump just shook hands with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. This kid will be our President one day. Bet on it."

Another user wrote, "Barron Trump is so classy beyond his years… Great job raising him, Prez Dad and Prez Mom."

A video montage shared by another account highlighted Barron's qualities, noting: "Barron Trump is a multilingual young man. Melania and President Trump have done an outstanding job raising him. He certainly helped President Trump during the election by appearing on popular podcasts."

Additional comments included:

"Like his father, he will probably be able to get along with just about anyone."

"Incredible maturity for his age. Excellent parenting."

"The Dems' kids could learn a few things."

The UK’s DailyMail.com also noted Barron's polished appearance and composed demeanor:

Barron showed off a slicked back new hairstyle as he attended his father’s historic second inauguration on Monday.

The 18-year-old looked smart in a long black overcoat, white shirt and purple tie as he attended a church ceremony in St John’s Episcopal Church opposite the White House on Monday morning.

The NYU-Stern student, who towers over his dad and mother Melania at 6’9, kept his expression neutral as he walked into church and sat in a pew alongside his parents.

In other news, President Trump scored an early victory as the Senate confirmed former Florida Senator Marco Rubio as the next Secretary of State in a unanimous 99-0 vote. Rubio is expected to play a significant role in advancing Trump’s ambitious foreign policy agenda, including resolving the conflict in Ukraine, countering China’s growing influence, and facilitating a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee had overwhelmingly recommended Rubio’s confirmation earlier that day, paving the way for swift approval. This bipartisan support underscores a rare moment of unity in the chamber.

Rubio, who has served in the Senate since 2011, briefly competed against Trump in the 2016 presidential race before endorsing him. He was also a contender for Trump’s vice-presidential pick in 2024. Known for his firm stance against China and his opposition to restoring ties with Cuba, Rubio’s appointment highlights Trump’s focus on assertive foreign policy.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed State Attorney General Ashley Moody to fill Rubio’s Senate seat.

Meanwhile, Trump has begun executing an extensive series of executive actions aimed at reshaping federal policies. Within his first few days, the president plans to implement over 200 directives focusing on energy independence, border security, reducing living costs, eliminating DEI programs across federal agencies, and more. Among Monday’s actions were pardons for approximately 1,500 individuals involved in the events of January 6.

An administration official told Fox News: "The president is issuing a historic series of executive orders and actions that will fundamentally reform the American government, including the complete and total restoration of American sovereignty."
