Ben Shapiro Criticizes Kamala Harris' Fox News Interview: 'Complete Disaster'
Daily Wire's editor emeritus, Ben Shapiro, has strongly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris following her recent interview on Fox News, calling it a "complete disaster."
The highly anticipated interview, conducted by Fox News anchor Bret Baier on Wednesday, was packed with tough questions. Throughout the interview, Harris was seen dodging some questions and becoming visibly frustrated when defending her vice-presidential record.
Shapiro, who was not impressed by the exchange, remarked that the interview turned out worse than he had expected, and warned that it could negatively impact her potential presidential campaign.
“Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. I thought it was not going to be great. I did not think it was going to be that not great,” Shapiro said.
He continued, “Kamala Harris has been avoiding tough interviews during this entire election cycle. The most challenging interview she faced was with Bill Whitaker on '60 Minutes,' which was edited to make her appear better. That didn’t happen with Bret Baier, and it turned into a complete disaster for her.”
Shapiro then pointed out several of Harris' most difficult moments, starting with the discussion on immigration. Baier pressed Harris on the Biden administration’s decision to reverse numerous Trump-era executive orders regarding border policy. He also questioned her about how these reversals impacted the significant rise in illegal immigration over the past four years.
“She immediately swiveled. She will not answer the question,” Shapiro said. “She won’t just say, listen, we messed up at the beginning. We reversed Trump’s executive orders. We’ve got it right now. We see the issue. … But she can’t say that because she wants to claim ownership, to say she was involved in every decision.”
During the interview, Harris struggled with questions about her plans to "turn the page" on her vice-presidency, why nearly 80% of Americans believe the country is on the "wrong track," her stance on taxpayer-funded sex change surgeries for illegal immigrants and prisoners, and her defense of President Joe Biden's mental health. Throughout the interview, she frequently steered the conversation toward former President Donald Trump rather than addressing her role in the Biden administration.
“Man, she looked bad,” Shapiro remarked. “She looked absolutely awful. She seemed combative, irritated that Bret Baier had the audacity to ask her serious questions. She must be furious at her team for suggesting she do Bret Baier’s interview in the first place. She’s either unwilling or unable to answer policy questions in this election cycle.”
Shapiro continued, “The only card she’s playing in this election cycle, and everyone knows it, is to talk about Trump. But here’s the issue: once you dig a little deeper, you realize she’s an empty vessel for the entire Biden administration agenda. She’s not particularly intelligent. She doesn’t know her own policies well enough to make clear and compelling distinctions about how they work. She has no idea how to defend the policies she herself has supported.”
Following the interview, Baier shared a “behind the scenes” photo of himself with Harris, giving a glimpse of the tense atmosphere.
