Ben Shapiro Makes Surprise ‘24 Election Announcement

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, known for his opposition to Donald Trump during the 2016 primaries, has announced his full support for the former president's 2024 presidential bid.

Using his widely popular show, "The Ben Shapiro Show," Shapiro revealed his decision to back Trump and pledged financial support by co-hosting a fundraiser. This marks a significant shift in Shapiro's political stance, considering his previous reservations about endorsing Trump wholeheartedly.

"As most of you know, I'm voting for Donald Trump in November. I've said so many, many times at this point, but I'm not just voting for Donald Trump," Shapiro stated. "Next week, I will be co-hosting a fundraiser for him. Now, this may come as a surprise to some of you. I want to tell you why. As you know, I didn't support Trump in the primaries."

While Shapiro had previously expressed support for Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, he explained that Trump's status as the nominee against Joe Biden compelled him to rally behind Trump. He criticized Biden's presidency, highlighting perceived shortcomings and contrasting them with Trump's tenure: "Because Donald Trump is the nominee against Joe Biden, I won't just vote for him. I will walk over broken glass to vote for him. Actually, I will go into my own pocket to support him, which is what I'm doing. My calculus is really simple. America was better off under Donald Trump than it is under Joe Biden."

Shapiro acknowledged his past criticisms of Trump but emphasized his belief that Trump's reelection was crucial to prevent another Biden term, which he deemed detrimental to the country. He urged others who may have preferred different GOP nominees to recognize the binary choice between Trump and Biden.

Throughout his program, Shapiro defended his endorsement of Trump as a pragmatic decision for the country's well-being, despite his ongoing criticisms of Trump's character and policies.

This unexpected endorsement from Shapiro, a prominent figure in the conservative movement, adds an intriguing dimension to the political landscape.
