Biden Takes a Shot at Trump as He Departs D.C. After Inauguration

Former President Joe Biden pledged on Monday to stand firm against President Donald Trump’s policy agenda as Trump embarks on his second term in office.
Speaking at Joint Base Andrews shortly after the inauguration, Biden, joined by former First Lady Jill Biden, addressed supporters, emphasizing that those opposing Trump “have a lot more to do.”
“You heard the inaugural address today. We’ve got a lot more to do,” Biden affirmed.
In a lighthearted moment, Biden made the sign of the cross, drawing laughter from his audience as he reflected on witnessing numerous transitions of power during his extensive political career.

“They’re up and down, but we have to stay with it,” he remarked.
Quoting his father’s wisdom, Biden said, “My dad taught me the measure of a person — you’ve heard me say this before — is how quickly they get back up when they get knocked down. That’s what we have to do right now. We’ve always done our best as Americans.”
He reinforced his point, declaring, “We never, never, never give up. Ever.”
Biden assured his audience, “We’re leaving office, but we’re not leaving the fight.”
According to WDEL in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden’s immediate plans include a trip to Santa Ynez, located north of Santa Barbara, California. He is expected to stay at the home of Democratic donor Joe Kiani. This location also served as a retreat for Biden after he ended his re-election campaign last summer. His return timeline to his Wilmington residence remains unclear, WDEL-TV reports.
Meanwhile, during his 30-minute inaugural address, Trump offered a sharp critique of Biden’s administration while projecting optimism about the country’s future. He voiced his dissatisfaction with the previous leadership’s approach to critical issues such as border security, energy, and foreign policy.
“As we gather today, our government confronts a crisis of trust. For many years, the radical and corrupt establishment has extracted power and wealth from our citizens,” Trump declared, as reported by the Associated Press.
“While the pillars of our society lay broken and seemingly in complete disrepair, we now have a government that cannot manage even a simple crisis at home while at the same time stumbling into a continuing catalog of catastrophic events abroad,” Trump asserted.
In a rallying call, Trump proclaimed, “Our recent election is a mandate to completely and totally reverse a horrible betrayal, and all of these many betrayals that have taken place, and to give the people back their faith, their wealth, their democracy, and indeed their freedom.”
