Bongino Accuses Conway, Others of ‘Sabotage’ Against Trump

Dan Bongino, a former Fox News host, has accused Kellyanne Conway and other Republicans of working behind the scenes against Donald Trump and his campaign. According to Bongino, these individuals are undermining Trump’s selection of JD Vance as his running mate.

On Wednesday's episode of The Dan Bongino Show, Bongino dismissed media reports suggesting Trump regrets picking Vance, calling them “absolute bullshit.” He suggested that these rumors may have originated from leaks within Trump’s circle, pointing to a report in the Daily Mail that claimed Trump is “melting down” over Vance.

“There’s a lot of internal sabotage going on right now that I honestly did not want to highlight because I like to stay focused on the Democrats, and I was hoping it would go away. It’s not,” Bongino stated.

Bongino believes that dissatisfaction with Vance’s stance on Ukraine among some Republicans is the cause of this internal discord. “I suspect strongly this was a leak from people who wanted another candidate for vice president,” Bongino said, specifically blaming the “Kellyanne Conway camp.”

Conway, who previously served in Trump’s administration, has come under fire from Bongino, who argued that “some of the other candidates were very interested in a more muscular posture in Ukraine where there was a lot of money to be made for a lot of people. JD Vance is interested in a more cautious approach to Ukraine.”

Bongino described the Trump-Vance duo as a “great ticket” and criticized those he believes are “sabotaging” it. He urged those involved to stop undermining the campaign, saying, “Instead of just shutting up and trying to win now with this great ticket, there are people out there sabotaging the ticket right now.”

In a direct message to Conway and others, Bongino issued a warning: “You’ve been warned. I’m going to say to Kellyanne and others: it’s time to pipe down. You’ve been warned. I’ve had about enough.”

Meanwhile, new polling data suggests that the surge Vice President Kamala Harris experienced after President Joe Biden exited the race last month is waning.

According to a recent poll by the Napolitan Institute, released on Friday, Trump has regained the lead, mirroring the advantage he held over Biden before the Democratic Party shifted its support to Harris.

“In the race for the White House, Donald Trump leads Kamala Harris 46% to 45%. When leaners are included, the Napolitan News survey of 3,000 Likely Voters shows Trump ahead 49% to 47%. A week ago, the candidates were tied at 49% among Likely Voters,” the polling organization reported.

“These numbers suggest that the initial Harris bounce is over. However, the core dynamics of the race remain unchanged. Love him or hate him, voters know what they think of Donald Trump. At this point in time, Kamala Harris remains largely unknown. That means events like the upcoming Democratic convention and presidential debates could have a bigger impact than usual.”

The organization concluded that the presidential race remains too close to call at this stage, although analysts have pointed out that Trump has historically outperformed his polling numbers in the last two elections.

“Trump voters are slightly more likely to vote than Harris supporters. So, the former president does a bit better with a lower turnout. What’s especially amazing about this close race is that it’s quite plausible to envision either party winning a trifecta: control of the Presidency, the Senate, and the House. The most important race to determine Senate control is in Montana. The latest Napolitan News survey there shows Democrat Jon Tester with a narrow lead, but the state’s political gravity is likely to boost Republican Tim Sheehy.”

Just the News also highlighted the new polling data, explaining that voters are “catapulting Trump to lead and ending Harris surge.” The report noted that Harris was leading Trump 44% to 43% in the same survey just a week ago and had a five-point lead at the beginning of the month.

“These numbers suggest that the initial Harris bounce is over,” pollster Scott Rasmussen of the Napolitan Institute told Just the News.

In related developments, Trump is reportedly bringing back familiar faces from his 2016 campaign as he prepares for the 2024 race.

Among those returning is former campaign manager-turned-top adviser Corey Lewandowski, according to CNN. However, Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles will continue to co-manage the campaign.

Lewandowski is expected to play a key role in navigating the evolving political landscape, particularly with President Joe Biden out of the race and Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.

To further bolster Trump’s campaign, Taylor Budowich, who has led the Trump-aligned super PAC MAGA, Inc. for the past two years, has been added as a senior adviser. Budowich brings a wealth of experience and is expected to play a pivotal role in the final stretch of the election.

“As we head into the home stretch of this election, we are continuing to add to our impressive campaign team,” Wiles and LaCivita said in a statement to CNN. “Corey Lewandowski, Taylor Budowich, Alex Pfeiffer, Alex Bruesewitz, and Tim Murtaugh are all veterans of prior Trump campaigns, and their unmatched experience will help President Trump prosecute the case against Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, the most radical ticket in American history.”

Wiles and LaCivita have been the driving force behind Trump’s campaign strategy for the past two years, shaping the Republican Party’s approach to his re-election bid.

Wiles, a longtime Trump adviser and daughter of NFL broadcast legend Pat Summerall, played a crucial role in Trump’s 2016 victory in Florida and later revived Ron DeSantis’s struggling gubernatorial campaign, leading him to a narrow victory, according to CNN.
