Bongino Accuses Conway, Others of ‘Sabotage’ Against Trump

Former Fox News host Dan Bongino has accused Kellyanne Conway and other Republicans of undermining Donald Trump’s campaign, particularly regarding Trump’s rumored choice of JD Vance as his running mate. Bongino made these claims on his show, "The Dan Bongino Show," where he dismissed media reports that Trump regretted picking Vance, calling them “absolute bullsh*t.” He suggested that these rumors were likely leaked from within Trump’s camp, hinting at sabotage.

Bongino referenced a report from the Daily Mail claiming Trump was “melting down” over Vance, but he argued the real issue was Vance’s cautious stance on Ukraine, which conflicted with other Republicans pushing for a more aggressive approach. Bongino pointed to the “Kellyanne Conway camp” as a potential source of the leaks. Conway, who previously served in the Trump administration, is one of several individuals Bongino believes would prefer a different candidate for vice president.

Bongino expressed frustration with these internal dynamics, saying, “Instead of just shutting up and trying to win now with this great ticket, there are people out there sabotaging the ticket right now.” Directly addressing Conway and others, he warned, “You’ve been warned. It’s time to pipe down.”

Despite the turmoil, Trump has performed well in recent polls. He has gained significant support among independents and Latino voters, which has helped him close the gap against Vice President Kamala Harris. According to new NPR/PBS News/Marist polling, Trump now leads Harris by three points among independents, a notable improvement from August when he trailed by 11 points. Trump has also narrowed his deficit among Latino voters, now leading Harris by four points.

Pollsters, like Dr. Lee M. Miringoff from the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, noted that the race between Trump and Harris remains tight, with both candidates holding a narrow lead in various demographics. Voters who value honesty tend to support Harris, while those seeking strong leadership lean toward Trump.

The upcoming debate between Trump and Harris is expected to be crucial, with around 70% of Americans indicating they plan to watch. However, 69% of respondents believe the debate is unlikely to change their decision.

In another national contest survey, Harris narrowly leads Trump by 49% to 48%, with support split among various demographics. Harris holds an advantage among women and Black voters, while Trump has stronger support on issues like immigration, the Middle East, and the economy.
