BREAKING NEWS: Sen. John Fetterman and Wife Injured in Car Crash, Both Taken to Hospital

Democratic Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, 54, was involved in a car accident on Sunday.

Fetterman and his wife, Gisele Fetterman, were traveling in a Chevrolet Traverse on Interstate 70 in Maryland when their vehicle rear-ended a Chevrolet Impala moving in the same direction, according to CBS.

State police informed CBS that an ambulance took both the Fettermans and the Impala driver to War Memorial Hospital in West Virginia after the crash.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, according to local NBC Philadelphia affiliate WCAU.

A spokesperson for Fetterman told WCAU that the senator suffered minor injuries in the incident.

“On Sunday morning, John and Gisele were involved in a car accident with another driver. Out of an abundance of caution, they were evaluated at a local hospital,” the spokesperson told WCAU.

“John was treated for a bruised shoulder, and they were discharged that afternoon.

“They are doing well and happy to be back in Braddock.”

Fetterman was released from the hospital on Sunday afternoon and still plans to travel to Washington to vote on the Senate floor this week.

CBS reported that no citations have been issued in relation to the crash at this time.

Fetterman has faced health challenges for several years.

During his 2022 campaign, the senator experienced a stroke, as noted by NBC News.

He continues to deal with the aftermath of the stroke, which affects his ability to fully understand spoken words and often makes it difficult for him to speak clearly.

Recently, Fetterman has drawn attention for his strong pro-Israel stance and sharp criticism of fellow Democrats, progressives, and liberals who show support for the terrorist group Hamas.
