Breaking Report: Biden Is Out, Ending Campaign

A recent report suggests that President Joe Biden may exit the presidential race in the coming days.

Journalist Mark Halperin has reported this amidst growing indications that more Democrats are advising Biden to step aside.

“This is happening all of a sudden,” he remarked in a video shared on X.

“Everyone said it would occur gradually and then all at once, and that’s what’s unfolding,” he explained.

“According to my sources, President Biden has decided to withdraw as the Democratic nominee,” Halperin stated, adding that this “could happen as soon as this weekend.”

Halperin mentioned that drafts of Biden’s speech are already prepared for him to review.

“He intends to continue serving as president,” Halperin noted.

“He will also not, as I’m informed, endorse Vice President Harris as his successor. They’re hoping he will support an open process allowing the convention to consider Vice President Harris along with other candidates,” he said.

“The expectation is that Vice President Harris is already evaluating potential running mates to present a full ticket in Chicago, including possible choices like Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro,” he said.

Democratic Governors Gavin Newsom of California and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan are also being discussed, he mentioned.

Halperin explained that the arrangement would allow an open first ballot at the convention, with Democratic Super Delegates making the final decision if no candidate wins on the first ballot.

He added that “high-level pressure from Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, and others” was influencing Biden’s decision to step down, alongside information from his aides indicating a probable loss to former President Donald Trump.

According to Axios, Biden has been informed by his aides that his chances of winning are slim.

“The private message, boiled down to its essence: The top leaders of his party, his friends, and key donors believe he can’t win, can’t alter public perceptions of his age and acuity, and can’t secure congressional majorities,” Axios reported, suggesting that Biden’s decision to exit the race might be announced this weekend.

“His choice is to be remembered as one of history’s heroes or face the certainty that there will never be a Biden presidential library,” Axios quoted a close friend of Biden’s, whose name was not disclosed.

In an interview excerpt released by BET on Wednesday, Biden hinted that his departure might be related to health issues.

“If I had a medical condition that emerged, if doctors told me I had this problem or that problem,” Biden stated, according to The New York Times.
