Candace Owens’ Life Takes Shocking Turn
Candace Owens has terminated her longstanding association with The Daily Wire, attributing it to the conservative publication's failure to consistently and forcefully support Israel's conflict against Hamas.
Jeremy Boreing, co-founder of Daily Wire, disclosed this development on Thursday morning, stating that both parties had 'terminated their relationship.'
Owens' three-year contract was nearing its end, leading to speculation that it was an opportune time for the conservative commentator to explore new avenues, ultimately resulting in the split. Owens has frequently clashed with pro-Israel co-founder Ben Shapiro, criticizing Israel for its incursions into Gaza following Hamas' October 7, 2023, offensive, which resulted in 1,400 Israeli casualties and numerous captives.
On Thursday, Owens hinted that she would soon address the frequent harassment and threats she faces, stating in a cryptic post, 'A lot of people asking why I am speaking out so much as of late. Sincerely, since I’m done. For years, I’ve been subjected to constant threats, defamation, and libels, and what you witnessed yesterday is not unusual; those who engage in this behavior want you to offer an apology. It makes no sense at all. It’s time to say the quiet part out loud.'
Later in the day, Owens discussed her recent conversation with Rabbi Barclay, a staunch supporter of Israel's right to self-defense, on her Christian talk show. She characterized the Jewish leader as a racial supremacist and sent him backhanded compliments, stating, 'I think he views himself as better… or at least his race as more important, more significant, the history of his race as more significant… If you are honestly a supremacist, at least I can appreciate that,' while questioning why her followers warn her about potential repercussions for questioning Israel during a time of heightened awareness about Jewish nationalism.
Ben Shapiro, a Jewish author who has visited Israel and publicly discussed terrorist acts against the country, distinguishes between Hamas terrorists and the broader Palestinian population affected by the conflict. Should Shapiro openly criticize Owens, he would align with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a generally progressive organization that has labeled Owens as antisemitic due to her recent statements.
'I am grateful they have turned their smear merchant guns on me,' Owens responded in her own post. 'My heart is already known to the world. Their attacks will accomplish the reverse of what is intended. Wake up, world. I’m grateful, @adl.'
