CNN’s Alisyn Camerota Announces Passing Of Her Husband

CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota announced on social media Friday that her husband of 22 years, Tim Lewis, passed away earlier this summer after a prolonged battle with cancer.

In an Instagram post, Camerota shared that Lewis succumbed to pancreatic cancer on July 27, just a few months before their anniversary.

"Some heartbreaking personal news to share: my beloved and extraordinary husband Tim passed away on July 27th, two years after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I can’t imagine anyone facing such a devastating diagnosis with more humor, humility, and courage than Tim. He was an incredible father, husband, friend, and role model. Now, the rest of us are trying to follow in his footsteps. The kids and I are still finding our way. Tim gave us so much strength and stability, and we’re determined to reflect those qualities. He dedicated much of his life to helping his community and easing the lives of those around him," Camerota wrote.

“To continue his legacy, we’ve created a fund in his memory to support families going through similar challenges. I would be honored if you would consider contributing. This month would have been our 23rd wedding anniversary, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have experienced such a deep, loving partnership for the time we had. I plan to share more in the coming days and return to work in the next few weeks. Thank you all for your love, letters, trays of lasagna, and countless acts of kindness. I am so grateful," she added.

The post also featured a photo of the couple on their wedding day.

Camerota included a link to a donation page she set up in her Instagram story to raise funds for families impacted by pancreatic cancer.

"Tim balanced a demanding career with an unwavering commitment to his family," she wrote. "He loved his wife and children deeply and actively. Tim was known for arranging playdates, managing soccer schedules, organizing date nights, and overseeing violin and drum lessons, all while keeping up with work calls and even buying fall clothes for the kids (though they weren’t always thrilled about it)," she continued.

"He was a master at creating family memories, always finding ways to spend time together, whether it was neighborhood walks, vacation hikes, or beach dinners. Even when it was just sitting at the kitchen table doing puzzles, being with his family was what Tim cherished most," Camerota added.

Camerota has been with CNN since 2014, after many years working at Fox News.

In a different segment, HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher took issue with CNN's host Kaitlan Collins regarding her network's coverage of Vice President Kamala Harris’ Democratic National Convention speech, suggesting that CNN appears overwhelmingly left-leaning to most viewers of cable news.

Maher recalled a viral moment from Collins' appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," where Colbert commented that CNN "just reports the news," prompting the audience to burst into laughter.

“That reaction says a lot, doesn’t it?” Maher noted.

Collins, as expected, defended CNN. “CNN is a platform where both sides can tune in, and I think my show proves that. We have lawmakers from both political parties on. One night we’ll feature Elizabeth Warren, and the next we’ll have Ted Cruz. I believe politicians from both sides should face questions, and it’s important to challenge them both,” she explained.

Maher responded, “I’m talking about CNN overall, and I understand how conservatives feel. I watched Kamala’s speech last night—it ended at 8:09, or 11:09 Eastern Time—and it wasn’t until 11:23 that the one conservative voice, Scott Jennings, got to speak. I call him ‘Lonely Scott.’”

Collins continued to defend CNN and her show, emphasizing that her job is to challenge both parties fairly.
