CNN’s Jennings Offers Critical Take On Biden’s ‘Pretty Terrible’ Exit From White House

Conservative CNN contributor Scott Jennings offered a stark critique of President Joe Biden’s legacy shortly after Biden’s farewell address on Tuesday.

In a clip shared on his X account, Jennings argued that Biden, the 46th president, would primarily be remembered for his influence on the political trajectory of President-elect Donald Trump, particularly in Trump’s two election victories.

After calling Biden’s departure “pretty terrible,” Jennings told his mostly left-leaning co-panelists, “He’s going to be remembered for a few things.”

“When he was vice president, he and Obama sort of ushered in the Trump era, initially, and then as he’s leaving office as president, bringing back Trump and Trumpism stronger and more popular than ever,” he said.

Jennings also remarked on Biden’s apparent cognitive decline, saying the president’s demeanor reflected concerns raised by conservatives even before his term began. He described Biden as appearing slow, tired, and frequently stumbling over his words, reinforcing the “senile” image often associated with him.

“When I watch this tonight, I remain astonished that he, his family, and other people around him thought he could ever run for another term. I mean, there’s no way he could serve another six months let alone another four years,” Jennings said.

His co-panelists remained silent as he denounced what he called a “farce” in Democrats’ efforts to sustain Biden’s presidency, describing it as “one of the most astonishing things about this term.”

Other reactions to Biden’s farewell address were equally critical.

“I’m stunned,” former Democratic adviser Dan Turrentine posted on X. “I’m no historian, but I don’t recall a more dark Presidential farewell address. It’s more a cry to the DNC than accentuating the positive to the country. This is sad.”

“My thoughts on President Joe Biden’s Farewell Address: It was underwhelming and divisive,” said Gabriella Hoffman, director of the Independent Women’s Forum Center for Energy & Conservation.

“I’m relieved his four-year term is coming to an end. Mr. Biden failed to bring Americans together and pushed terrible ‘whole of government’ policies that weakened us on many fronts: energy, national security, economics/small business, foreign affairs, and general freedoms. History won’t look kindly on Biden’s tenure. He’s now the most unpopular U.S. President in history,” Hoffman added.

“Joe Biden mentions climate hysteria ahead of actual priorities, like border security, lowering costs, and peace through strength,” Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin posted on X. “They never learn.”

“Joe Biden’s going out of office the same way he went in: Petty, partisan, and frankly not telling the truth,” Republican Rep. Darrell Issa said.

“Joe Biden discussing democracy, a free press, institutions and the abuse of power in his final farewell speech is rich,” Republican Rep. Nancy Mace added.

“Joe Biden can’t even read. Every time he speaks it gets worse,” conservative radio host Clay Travis posted on X. “Trying to run him in 2024 is the most reckless and indefensible presidential decision in any of our lives.”

“What an embarrassing and pathetic end to an embarrassing and pathetic term,” Fox News host Greg Gutfeld said.

In his farewell address, Biden criticized President-elect Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, warning of the dangers posed by concentrated wealth and power.

“That’s why my farewell address tonight, I want to warn the country of some things that give me great concern. And this is a dangerous — and that’s the dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultrawealthy people, and the dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked,” Biden said.

“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead. We see the consequences all across America. And we’ve seen it before,” the president added.
