Cops Confirm No Threat To Trump’s Rally After Report of ‘Explosives’ in Car

Police responded to reports of possible “explosives” near the site of former President Donald Trump’s rally on Long Island.

“A spokesperson for the Nassau County Police Department confirmed to DailyMail.com that there was a ‘suspicious occurrence’ on Wednesday ahead of Trump’s speech, where thousands of MAGA supporters were gathering. However, there is ‘no validity’ to the claim that an ‘explosive device’ was found,” according to the Daily Mail.

The report added, “Police remain on high alert in the area just hours before the former president is scheduled to take the stage. Sources in the Nassau County Police Department allegedly informed journalist James Lalino earlier on Wednesday that the rally site ‘perimeter was breached, and a blue barrel was removed.’”

Thousands of Trump supporters are expected to attend the 7 p.m. ET rally at the Nassau Coliseum, with many already gathering to secure prime seats. Some even spent the night in line for the indoor arena event. Though doors do not open until 3 p.m. ET, large crowds of MAGA supporters, waving flags and sporting Trump-themed apparel, are already assembled.

This rally comes just days after Trump survived an apparent assassination attempt on Sunday.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, along with other law enforcement officials, detailed the attempt on Trump’s life at his Florida golf club, explaining how close the former president was to the would-be assassin.

During a press conference, Sheriff Bradshaw noted that a Secret Service agent thwarted the attack when they spotted the rifle barrel near the next hole Trump was about to play.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were briefed shortly after the incident, once Trump was confirmed to be “safe” following gunfire near Trump National Golf Club.

According to multiple reports, shots were fired on Sunday in the vicinity of Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where Trump, a leading 2024 GOP presidential candidate, was playing golf.

In a statement, the White House announced that Biden and Harris had been briefed and would continue to receive updates on the investigation. They expressed their relief that Trump was safe.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took to Twitter to announce that the state would launch an investigation into the assassination attempt, stating, “The people deserve the truth about the would-be assassin and how he was able to get within 500 yards of the former president and current GOP nominee.”

Trump’s advisers, Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, sent a memo to staff after the incident: “Today, for the second time in two months, an evil monster attempted to take the life of President Trump.” They commended the Secret Service for its efforts, stressing, “This is not a matter we take lightly. Your safety is always our top priority. Please remain vigilant in your daily activities.”

Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign communications director, issued a statement on Sunday afternoon, saying, “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time.”

Trump later released a statement through his campaign, declaring, “I AM SAFE AND WELL! Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again.”
