Crowd Backs Trump as He Comes Face-to-Face with Kamala Harris at 9/11 Memorial

As dignitaries gathered at Ground Zero to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks and remind Americans of the enduring threat of terrorism, one figure stood out among the crowd.

“Donald!” voices called as former President Donald Trump was spotted among the dignitaries, as shown in a video posted on YouTube.

The shouts continued as Trump shook hands with Vice President Kamala Harris, just hours after their debate on Tuesday night. President Joe Biden, standing between Trump and Harris, also later shook hands with Trump, according to the New York Post.

While the crowd continued to call Trump's name, Harris waved to those gathered for the 23rd anniversary of the day planes crashed into the World Trade Center.

Following the memorial, Trump and Republican vice presidential candidate Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio visited Engine Company 4, Ladder Company 15 in Manhattan, the New York Post reported.

This firehouse lost one captain, one lieutenant, and 12 firefighters on the day the World Trade Center collapsed, as they bravely responded to save lives.

At the firehouse, Trump and Vance participated in a moment of silence at 10:28 a.m., marking the exact time the North Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed, claiming the lives of those inside and around it.

Although Trump did not deliver remarks at the New York City commemoration, he was scheduled to travel to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, to attend the memorial for Flight 93, which was part of the 9/11 terrorist plot but crashed after passengers heroically fought back against the hijackers.

Meanwhile, President Biden faced backlash for a comment he made on Tuesday, where he stated, “tomorrow I’m doing 9/11,” according to the New York Post.

At a ceremony honoring the late Fire Chief Gerard A. Barbara, who died on 9/11, his widow, Joanne Barbara, criticized Biden’s remark.

“The elected officials here today show their respect and reverence to the families on Sept. 11, or — in our president’s words — ’do 9/11,’ quite a flippant remark,” she said, according to the New York Post.

Joanne Barbara further emphasized, “Please remember that the 9/11 families live it every day,” acknowledging the ongoing grief felt by the families of the 2,977 victims of that tragic day.
