Deadly Shootout Outside RNC - Secret Service Involved

A deadly confrontation involving police occurred near the intersection of 14th and Vliet streets in Milwaukee, just about 1.2 miles from Fiserv Forum, the primary site of the Republican National Convention. This event has led to a significant law enforcement presence, including the Secret Service.

Witnesses who spoke with WISN 12 News reported that the incident began with a dispute between two men at King Park, where one of them was seen brandishing a knife. The situation escalated when numerous officers arrived, causing the men to panic. Witnesses stated that the man holding the knife was subsequently shot by multiple officers, although this detail has not yet been officially confirmed by the police.

While the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office has not officially confirmed its involvement, various sources have informed WISN 12 News that the individual who was shot has died.

The officers involved in the shooting are reportedly from Columbus, Ohio, rather than being part of the Milwaukee Police Department. The Columbus Fraternal Order of Police has confirmed that no officers were injured in the incident.

During the Republican National Convention, Milwaukee is hosting law enforcement personnel from 63 departments across 24 states, Washington, D.C., and 44 agencies within Wisconsin to ensure the safety and security of the event. Despite the shooting incident occurring nearby, it appears to be unrelated to the RNC.

According to sources from WISN 12 News, the police perimeter has now been extended to include 17th and Vliet streets.

It has been three days since the nation was stunned by the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. Witnesses in the crowd saw the shooter on the rooftop of a nearby building shortly before the shooting began. Investigators are now gathering information to determine the motive behind the assassination attempt.

US authorities received advance intelligence weeks ago from a credible source about a possible plot orchestrated by Iran to target Trump, as reported by CNN. Several officials familiar with the matter stated that this intelligence led to a significant increase in security for the former president by the Secret Service. As the investigation continues, the search for answers goes on.
