Democrat Politician ARRESTED For Alarming Reason
A former Biden appointee and Democratic candidate in Texas was arrested on allegations of posting racist comments about himself on various social media platforms.
Taral Patel, 30, is running for the position of county commissioner in Fort Bend, Texas. He was charged last week after the current commissioner, Andy Meyers, initiated an investigation into Patel's campaign. This followed Patel's claims that his supporters were making racially charged insults against him on social media. The Fort Bend District Attorney's Office began its investigation after Patel's Facebook post in October of last year, where he alleged that he and his family were targets of a smear campaign.
“As your Democratic candidate for County Commissioner, I am always open to criticism of my policy positions and stances on issues. However, when my Republican opponents supporters’ decide to hurl #racist, #anti-immigrant, #Hinduphobic, or otherwise disgusting insults at my family, faith community, colleagues, and me – that crosses a line,” he wrote at the time.
“Fort Bend County’s diversity has made us all stronger, and these hateful images… are from a place of deep and misguided fear – incited by people like former President Donald Trump and today’s extremist Republican party fear that immigrants are ‘taking their jobs’ and setting out to hurt our own communities.”
According to the New York Post, Patel is Indian and Hindu, and he has been called a “monkey” and a “subhuman” in some of the attacks.
Patel’s political website indicates that he held several prominent positions soon after President Joe Biden took office, which he leveraged for his campaign. He was appointed to the White House Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Committee and the Office of White House Liaison, after working in the Public Integrity Section of the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division.
Meyers told a local ABC affiliate that he recognized one user, named “Antonio Scalywag,” who had previously attacked him, which led to suspicion about the abusive tweets. Subpoenas were issued to Facebook and Google, revealing information that traced back to Patel: his address, phone number, bank account information, and credit card details.
According to the Post, Patel faces charges of felony impersonation and a Class A misdemeanor for misrepresenting his identity. He was taken into custody by the Texas Rangers last week and posted $22,500 for both counts. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 22nd.
The former diversity appointee is among several young political figures close to Biden who have faced charges or been dismissed for posting offensive content online. Sam Brinton, a non-binary former Department of Energy employee, was fired in 2021 after using his position to access an airport’s baggage sorting area to steal women’s clothing. He has since been accused of felony grand larceny.
Additionally, Nejwa Ali, a former spokeswoman for the Biden Department of Homeland Security, was dismissed after online investigators revealed she had previously served as a spokesperson for the Palestinian Liberation Organization, which has praised the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
