Dems, Harris Fact-Checked By CNN After Falsely Tying Trump to ‘Project 2025’

CNN hasn’t been widely recognized as a media outlet that is fair or supportive of former President Donald Trump, particularly during his time in office. However, in recent weeks, the network has made noticeable efforts to adopt a more balanced approach.

The latest example occurred on Wednesday during a live broadcast, where CNN’s fact-checker debunked claims made by Vice President Kamala Harris and other Democrats that linked former President Donald Trump to the conservative manifesto, “Project 2025.”

During the segment, CNN played a clip of Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) stating that Trump authored the manifesto.

“That is false,” CNN’s Daniel Dale clarified after the clip aired. “Trump did not write Project 2025, the...big policy document published by the Heritage Foundation think tank.” He further explained that the document “lists dozens of people as authors, editors, contributors,” but “Donald Trump is not among them.”

Despite this, Harris is still expected to falsely associate Trump with the document in her nomination acceptance speech on Thursday evening, as reported by The Hill.

“Harris will use the speech to connect Trump to the agenda and argue that it would rip away freedoms, increase the cost of living and take the country backwards, aligning with her campaign slogan ‘we’re not going back,’” the outlet noted. “She plans to also outline her ‘New Way Forward’ plan, which the campaign official said is an optimistic agenda that provides economic opportunity and protects fundamental freedoms.”

For weeks, Harris and other Democrats have been attempting to tie Trump to the manifesto, but Trump has consistently denied any involvement with it and expressed disagreement with many of its principles.

“I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal,” Trump stated on his Truth Social platform in early July. “Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.”

Meanwhile, a partner organization working on Project 2025 is reportedly researching federal employees. According to Just the News, they are compiling a list of individuals who might oppose Trump’s agenda if he were to regain the presidency in November.

In the meantime, Trump is preparing for a visit to the chaotic U.S.-Mexico border on Thursday as part of a two-day campaign tour in Arizona, as reported.

Trump’s border visit is scheduled in Cochise County ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris’ nomination acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday. Afterward, he will head to Glendale for a rally at the Desert Diamond Arena, the same venue where Harris spoke earlier this month. The former president’s visit is set for 11:30 a.m. local time.

This marks Trump’s second visit to Arizona in recent months, following a rally in Phoenix in June.

Trump, the GOP nominee, plans to address immigration policy in Arizona, a critical swing state. Republicans are looking to counter Harris’ momentum by focusing on an issue where Democrats are perceived as vulnerable, as noted by Newsweek.

Harris and the Democrats are facing increasing criticism from Republicans, who argue that their approach to border security and immigration policy is lacking in firmness. Republicans have blamed the vice president for the surge in illegal crossings during the Biden-Harris administration, after the president assigned her the responsibility of curbing illegal immigration and strengthening border security, a task she has clearly struggled to accomplish.

Trump’s campaign has stated that there’s “no end in sight for Kamala Harris’ border crisis.”

“While failed border czar Kamala Harris adopts the Biden Basement strategy to hide from the illegal immigrant invasion created by her radical policies, President Trump will be visiting the southern border again. President Trump knows how important the border crisis is to Americans and will once again deliver on his promise to stop the invasion, secure the border, and make America safe,” Republican National Committee spokesperson Taylor Rogers told Newsweek.
