DeSantis Says Biden-Harris Admin Thwarting Florida’s Probe Into Latest Trump Attack Plot

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has accused the Biden-Harris administration of not only failing to cooperate with state agencies investigating the latest assassination plot against former President Donald Trump but also actively hindering their efforts.

In a Thursday interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, the two-term governor and former GOP presidential candidate said that state investigators were "rebuffed" by federal authorities when they attempted to access a site where the suspected attacker, Ryan Routh, 58, had allegedly waited for Trump as he played golf at his Palm Beach course last Sunday.

"I want to turn to another topic because we were relieved to hear that you are doing your own independent investigation in Florida concerning the second assassination attempt on President Trump,” Ingraham remarked as she began the segment with DeSantis. “My question to you tonight is, are the Feds being cooperative with your investigation? Are you concerned that you’re not getting the information you need?”

DeSantis responded, “The answer is, no, they’re not being cooperative. Yes, I am concerned. I mean, for example, we were rebuffed. Our investigators were rebuffed just going to the fence line outside of Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.”

DeSantis continued by explaining, “I think they’ve taken the position they don’t want the state of Florida to be involved in this. But here’s the thing: there were multiple violations of Florida law across multiple jurisdictions. We think at least three judicial circuits. This guy, Ryan Routh, committed potential violations of Florida law.”

“So, we have a duty to investigate this. We have a duty to bring the appropriate charges, and we also have a duty to inform the public about how this happened. I don’t anticipate them being cooperative,” he added. “I think that’s unfortunate because even though I’ve been very clear, the state of Florida is going to do an investigation. I’ve not disputed their right to investigate as well. It’s the federal government — he was in their protective custody as a presidential candidate."

"But let us do this. So hopefully, that tune will change. But I can tell you right now, Laura, we have not gotten a lot of receptive response from the Biden-Harris administration,” DeSantis said.

Later in the interview, Ingraham and DeSantis discussed Routh’s murky background and what led him to plan an assassination attempt on Trump.

“How did he end up in Florida to begin with? What pathway did this guy take to end up in those bushes trying to assassinate the former President of the United States and current Republican nominee?” DeSantis asked.

“How did that happen? And we have not gotten answers about Butler, Pennsylvania,” where the first assassination attempt against Trump occurred in July, DeSantis continued. “We haven’t gotten answers about things like the Las Vegas shooting from many years ago."

“So, part of our investigation is that our team is going to provide evidence they find regarding his motive, his associations, and his beliefs. I think it’s very important that the public get the real story on that,” he added.

Earlier this week, Secret Service veteran and political commentator Dan Bongino raised the possibility of a "mole" within the Secret Service or Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

“I have to ask you all a really troubling question now that I promised you 10 years ago I would have called myself nuts for asking this,” Bongino said before pausing. “Is there a mole inside the DHS or Secret Service?”

He elaborated, “Folks, what happened yesterday in Secret Service jargon—the movement to the golf course, Trump going to play golf at the course—is what we call an OTR. It stands for an off-the-record movement, meaning it’s not on the official schedule, meaning very few people have access to it.”

Bongino continued, “What makes me even more curious is that apparently the decision to golf was made at the last minute. Meaning, when the decision was made, probably fewer than 10 people knew about it. How’d this guy know to set up there?”
