Developing: Bill Clinton Requires Hospitalization

Former President Bill Clinton was hospitalized Monday evening in Washington, D.C., as confirmed by his chief of staff.

The 78-year-old “was admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital this afternoon for testing and observation after developing a fever,” Angel Ureña shared on the social media platform X.

“He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving,” Ureña added.

Clinton was transported from his residence in Washington to the hospital, according to CNN.

While Ureña did not specify a discharge timeline, he noted Clinton would likely remain in the hospital overnight.

A CNN report, citing an anonymous aide, described Clinton as “awake and alert.”

This is not Clinton's first serious health issue. Serving as president from 1993 to 2001, he underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery in 2004. A year later, he was hospitalized again for a collapsed lung.

In 2010, he faced another heart-related issue and had two stents inserted into a coronary artery.

Following these incidents, Clinton “responded by embracing a largely vegan diet that saw him lose weight and report improved health,” as noted by the Associated Press.

Despite his health history, Clinton has remained active in politics, campaigning earlier this year to support President Joe Biden’s fundraising efforts. After Biden exited the re-election race, Clinton shifted his support to Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for the presidency.

Recently, Clinton published a memoir titled “Citizen,” which details his life post-presidency.

The book “is largely about Clinton’s post-presidential life in philanthropy, and claims that his encounters with his disgraced former associate, Jeffrey Epstein, focused on his charitable foundation,” according to Fox News.

In relation to Epstein, Clinton told the Associated Press, “I wish I had never met him.”

Clinton has also ventured into fiction, collaborating with bestselling author James Patterson on a series centered around a fictional U.S. president.
