Disturbing Letter Left by Trump Assassination Attempt Suspect Revealed in Court Filing

A handwritten letter from Ryan Wesley Routh reveals his failed attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump, according to a court document.

The document also mentioned that before the September 15 incident, during which Routh was arrested on suspicion of attempting to assassinate Trump at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida, he had been in the Palm Beach area for several weeks.

The court filing, which sought to have Routh detained before his trial, stated that last Wednesday, “law enforcement was alerted by a civilian witness who reported that Routh had left a box at their residence several months earlier.”

“After hearing about the September 15, 2024, incident at Trump International, the witness opened the box. Inside, the witness found ammunition, a metal pipe, various building materials, tools, four phones, and multiple letters,” the document stated.

“One handwritten letter, addressed to ‘The World,’ stated, ‘This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, but I failed you. I gave it everything I had, but it wasn’t enough. Now it’s up to you to finish the job, and I will offer $150,000 to anyone who can complete it,’” the document revealed, including an image of the letter’s first page.

The letter also criticized Trump’s handling of international relations, stating that Trump “cut ties with Iran like a child, and now the Middle East is falling apart.”

The letter went on to say, “Everyone, from the youngest to the oldest across the globe, knows Trump is unfit for any leadership role, let alone the presidency. U.S. presidents should embody the moral fabric of America, demonstrating kindness, care, and selflessness, standing up for humanity. Trump fails to grasp any of that,” according to Fox News, which reported the letter’s content.

The court document also noted that investigators discovered a “handwritten list of dates in August, September, and October 2024, along with locations where the former President had appeared or was expected to be” in Routh’s car.

It further stated that based on cell phone data, Routh left Greensboro, North Carolina, on August 14, and that between August 18 and September 15, “Routh’s phone connected to cell towers near Trump International and Mar-a-Lago multiple times.”

The document also provided additional details about the events on September 15.

“At approximately 1:30 p.m., an Agent noticed a partially hidden face in the brush near the fence. The individual was later identified as Ryan Wesley Routh,” it stated.

“Routh’s position was directly aligned with the 6th hole. The Agent then spotted a long black object poking through the fence, which he quickly identified as the barrel of a rifle aimed at him. The Agent leaped out of the golf cart, drew his weapon, and began retreating. He observed the rifle barrel move, and in response, fired at Routh.

“The Agent took cover behind a tree, reloaded his weapon, and looked up to find Routh had disappeared. The Agent reported over the radio that shots had been fired, and there was an armed suspect with a rifle,” the document stated.

Additionally, the court filing referenced a book Routh wrote in 2023, where he expressed anger over Trump’s decision to end the Iranian nuclear deal brokered by the Obama administration.

“I take part of the blame for the idiotic decision to elect a brainless leader,” Routh wrote, referencing Trump, whom he initially supported in 2016, according to Newsweek.

“But I’m willing to admit I was wrong, and for that mistake, Iran, I apologize. Feel free to assassinate Trump, and me as well, for my error in judgment and for dismantling the deal,” Routh wrote.

The book, titled Ukraine’s Unwinnable War, included another statement: “No one here in the U.S. seems to have the guts to apply natural selection—or even unnatural selection.”
