E. Jean Carroll Gets Devastating News After Celebrating $83 Million Payday From Trump

"After forecasting a triumph for Donald Trump in Carroll's defamation lawsuit, one of the former president's lawyers is cautioning E. Jean Carroll against making lavish purchases like 'expensive motorcycles or penthouse apartments.'

Alina Habba, a member of Trump's legal team, criticized Carroll for suggesting she would buy MSNBC presenter Rachel Maddow a 'penthouse apartment and new clothes' after a jury awarded Carroll '$83.3 million for defamation' during an interview on Newsmax with host Eric Bolling.

Habba expressed her discontent, saying, 'It was like being in an epic Twilight Zone where no rules were allowed but for the other side, and then she goes out there and gloats and says she’s gonna buy France, and a wardrobe, and a motorcycle, and this and that.' Habba emphasized during her appearance that Carroll's focus seemed more on seeking publicity than addressing the alleged defamation.

Habba concluded her remarks with a prediction, stating, 'those rulings, the one-sidedness, will come up on appeal, and we will prevail.' She then advised Carroll against extravagant purchases, saying, 'I want everyone to remember, and I said this in my closing argument to the jury, she’s here to get a check and after this she will continue. She didn’t care, you know, about the defamation. She didn’t. She cared about the publicity.'

Anger was sparked by Carroll’s comment on 'The Rachel Maddow Show,' as it appeared to cast doubt on her defamation action against Trump.

A federal jury recently decided in a defamation complaint that Trump owes Carroll '$83.3 million in damages.' This verdict was based on his denial that he had sexually assaulted her in the 1990s.

During another segment of Carroll’s media tour, the MSNBC anchor questioned her about prior remarks she had made suggesting that any money she would get from Trump would go toward 'help shore up women’s rights.'

'Yes, Rachel! Yes!' Carroll enthusiastically responded. 'I had such, such great ideas for all the good I’m gonna do with this money.'

'First thing, Rachel, you and I are gonna go shopping!' she exclaimed. 'We’re gonna get complete new wardrobes, new shoes, motorcycle for [Carroll’s attorney Shawn] Crowley, a new fishing rod for Robbie [Carroll’s attorney Roberta Kaplan] — Rachel, what do you want? A penthouse? It’s yours, Rachel! Penthouse and France? You want France? You want to go fishing in France? No?'

Carroll’s lawyer interrupted, saying, 'That’s a joke,' while Maddow laughed at Carroll’s comments.

Several people claimed that her remarks damaged her credibility, which caused the video to become viral.

Fox News contributor Joe Concha said, 'If you needed any more proof this whole suit and verdict was a crock, here it is. And of course, Maddow still soaks it all up while not realizing how damaging this is.'

'Rough night for MSNBC,' Outkick founder Clay Travis remarked.

'This shows exactly what’s wrong with the justice system. You’re claiming the harm to your reputation was so bad you need millions to compensate for it, then you make these types of jokes. This also paints real assault survivors in bad lights and makes them seem money hungry. Absolutely disgusting,' Independent Women’s Forum spokesperson Paula Scanlan wrote.

'She’s a nutball,' The Spectator contributing editor Stephen Miller said.

Radio host Rob O’Donnell explained, 'Being in Law Enforcement and public safety for over 3 decades having worked special victims cases, this is not the mindset of a victim. No amount of money can ever make whole a true victim of sexual assault nonetheless make them giddy.'

'Deranged. Maddow served it up on a silver platter for E. Jean Carroll and she decided to be unhinged in her response,' conservative commentator Steve Guest wrote.

Carroll sued Trump for defamation after he angrily refuted her claims that he had raped her in remarks he made in 2019.

A federal jury in New York City found Trump guilty of defamation and sexual assault one year ago, but not of rape. The former president was ordered to pay '$5 million' as a result of the trial.

During her Monday night appearance on CNN, Carroll joked further about how she would use the money, but she soon amended her statement.

'We talk about it a lot. We will do good with that money. We are going to do — Trump has suggested we turn Trump Tower into an animal sanctuary, for instance. That was a joke. That was a joke,' Carroll said. 'But no, we are inspired to not waste a penny over this, and we have some good ideas we are working on.'"
