Eleventh Hour Discovery Shows Tim Walz to Be a Manchurian Candidate
With the election approaching this Tuesday, there may still be time for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, currently the Democratic vice-presidential candidate, to find himself at the center of a fresh controversy.
On Friday, Fox News Digital discovered a 2021 letter from Walz posted on the YouTube channel of the Minnesota International Chinese School. The letter was intended to celebrate the school's 10th anniversary of the Chinese New Year.
While seemingly harmless, Walz’s comments in the letter may raise concerns for those wary of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) influence in the United States.
Walz wrote, “The state has promoted Minnesota’s connections with China and has hosted numerous senior Chinese leaders for decades. Thousands of Minnesotans claim ancestral connections to China, which has helped foster numerous ties between Minnesota and China.”
He continued, “These ties are rapidly expanding through the growth of education, trade, and investment opportunities between our two peoples.”
Just days after Walz’s letter, the Consul General of China in Chicago, Zhao Jian, sent a greeting to the school. Earlier this year, Zhao met with Walz to discuss “China-U.S. relations and sub-national cooperation,” according to information from the House Oversight Committee.
In 2022, the Biden administration expressed concerns over the role of Chinese consuls like Zhao, noting that they “play an active role” in “foreign influence operations” for the CCP.
To summarize, Walz’s letter highlights his interactions with Chinese officials, including those with potential ties to influence efforts, as noted by the Biden administration.
Walz’s connection to China has been long-standing. In the same report, Fox noted that Walz claims he’s traveled to China 30 times and has expressed that U.S.-China relations should not be adversarial.
Adding to the controversy, the Daily Mail reported on Monday that Walz allegedly had an affair with the daughter of a high-ranking CCP official while teaching in Foshan, Guangdong Province, in 1989.
Is it fair to consider whether Walz could be a "Manchurian candidate"? The Cambridge Dictionary defines the term as “a person who is not loyal to, or who harms, their own country or political party because they are under the control or influence of another country or party.”
It’s a serious question since Walz’s ties to China are not just part of his past but remain ongoing.
Having a governor with significant ties to the CCP raises concerns, but if Walz were to become vice president, it could have profound implications.
Such a scenario would essentially provide the CCP with a connection to some of the United States' most sensitive national security information.
If the CCP seeks to undermine the U.S. and gain influence within its highest offices, a vice president with close connections to China could further that agenda.
