Elon Goes All In on Impeaching Rogue Judges with Uniquely Musk Approach to Taking Them Down

Elon Musk contributed the maximum legal donation to multiple Republican lawmakers who have advocated for the impeachment of progressive judges hindering actions taken by former President Donald Trump.
According to a Wednesday report from The New York Times, the billionaire provided each legislator with $6,600—the highest permitted amount for both primary and general elections combined.
These seven legislators have either introduced impeachment articles against federal judges who have obstructed Trump administration policies or have called for action to address the issue.
Beyond these direct contributions, The Times noted that Musk’s financial backing could indicate the possibility of future support through his own political organizations.
As reported by The Times, the tech mogul and leader of the Department of Government Efficiency invested $300 million into the 2024 election cycle and intends to support additional down-ballot races this year.
The recipients of Musk’s donations on Wednesday included Representatives Eli Crane (Arizona), Lauren Boebert (Colorado), Andy Ogles (Tennessee), Andrew Clyde (Georgia), Derrick Van Orden (Wisconsin), and Brandon Gill (Texas), along with Senator Chuck Grassley (Iowa).
Earlier this week, Gill introduced impeachment articles against U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, who recently ruled that the Trump administration must halt the deportation of individuals suspected of being members of the Tren de Aragua gang.
“He is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors and should be removed from office,” Gill posted on social media, referring to Boasberg as a “radical activist.”

Meanwhile, Crane filed impeachment articles against U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer, who placed restrictions on Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding their ability to grant administration officials access to Treasury Department transactions.
Speaking to The Times, Crane insisted, “we didn’t do it so Elon Musk would give us a campaign donation,” but acknowledged, “I think it’s great that individuals like Elon are throwing support behind those of us willing to take action.”

Ogles also expressed appreciation for Musk’s financial backing, stating, “His dedication isn’t just commendable—it’s vital to our Republic’s future.”
Musk, reposting Ogles’ remarks on social media, added, “For more than two centuries, there has never been such extreme abuse of the legal system by activists pretending to be judges.”

These donations come in the wake of an unusual public statement from Chief Justice John Roberts, who denounced the push for judicial impeachment.
“For more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision,” Roberts remarked, according to Axios.
“The normal appellate review process exists for that purpose.”
