Elon Musk Makes Announcement After Trump Wins Election

Billionaire Elon Musk is enjoying his time on X, formerly Twitter, after former President Donald Trump was declared the winner of the presidential race.

Musk tweeted, “The people of America gave @realDonaldTrump a crystal clear mandate for change tonight.” He added, “America is a nation of builders. Soon, you will be free to build.”

In the first half of October, Musk increased his financial backing for pro-Trump political action committees and other Republican groups, adding to the significant contributions he made earlier in the election cycle.

According to National Review, “Musk donated almost $44 million more to America PAC and $10 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC linked to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.), newly available federal records show.” The outlet further noted, “He also poured over $2 million into the Sentinel Action Fund, a conservative Super PAC active on the ground in Pennsylvania.”

Jessica Anderson, president of Sentinel Action Fund, expressed gratitude on X: “Thank you @elonmusk for catching the early vote/ absentee vision! This contribution closes the gap in PA. Let’s go win!”

If former President Trump regains the White House, a GOP-controlled Senate would allow him to continue appointing constitutionalists to the federal courts and potentially the U.S. Supreme Court.

With these donations, Musk’s total contributions to America PAC, which focuses on registering and mobilizing Republican voters in key swing states, are nearing $120 million. The DeVos family has also contributed $2 million, while investor Nelson Peltz added $1 million to this effort.

This level of spending places Musk among the largest political donors this cycle. Still, it represents only a fraction of his estimated $243 billion fortune, making him the world’s wealthiest person.

America PAC has offered a daily $1 million prize for registered voters in swing states who sign a petition supporting First and Second Amendment rights. The Biden-Harris Justice Department has suggested these prizes may breach federal election laws, and Democrats are calling for an investigation. Musk, however, claims the giveaways are not intended to register voters.

On his X platform, Musk has garnered around 3.3 billion views on election-related posts since January, sparking concerns about potential election security issues. His visibility and influence have made him one of the most prominent figures discussing elections during the 2024 campaign.

An analysis by CBS News found “361 posts specifically on the topic of potential election fraud in U.S. elections” among nearly 17,000 posts Musk has made this year, with each election-related post averaging 9.3 million views. Musk remains the most followed profile on X, and his posts on this topic, while a small percentage of his daily output, have stirred significant discussion.

Liberals worry that Musk’s vast online influence could sway the election in Trump and the Republicans’ favor. CBS reported, “The tech entrepreneur said that he voted Republican for the first time in a Texas congressional race in June 2022. A month later, he wrote that he thought it was time ‘for Trump to hang up his hat.’”

However, following the first attempted assassination of Trump on July 13, 2024, Musk formally endorsed Trump’s campaign, with CBS noting, “Since then, his posts have shown full-throated support for Trump.”

America PAC, focused on mobilizing voters in closely contested states that may decide the election outcome, spent roughly $72 million between July and September, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission.
