FBI Conducts Pre-Dawn Raid at Home of NY Gov. Kathy Hochul's Former Deputy Chief of Staff

The home of a former high-ranking member of Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s staff was targeted in an FBI raid on Tuesday.

The pre-dawn operation in a gated community in Manhasset focused on the $3.5 million home of Linda Sun, a former deputy chief of staff to Hochul, as reported by The New York Times.

No criminal charges have been filed against either Sun or her husband, Chris Hu.

An FBI spokesperson stated that agents from the New York City office “conducted court-authorized law enforcement activity” at the residence but declined to provide further details.

The Times reported that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn obtained the search warrant, but officials did not comment on the nature of the investigation.

According to the New York Post, Sun left state government last year under suspicious circumstances.

The report, citing an unnamed source, claimed Sun was fired following the emergence of unspecified “evidence of misconduct.”

The source indicated that the matter was referred to law enforcement.

Sun had a 14-year tenure in state government, with responsibilities that included business development, Asian American affairs, and diversity initiatives.

Newsday reported that Sun joined the governor’s office for a 15-month period after Hochul succeeded former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2021.

In November 2022, she transitioned from the executive chamber to a position in the state Department of Labor, as noted by the Times.

In early 2023, she left state government entirely and served as the campaign manager for unsuccessful Democratic congressional candidate Austin Cheng.

Hu, Sun’s husband, operates a liquor store and a medical supplies company, among other business ventures.

A security guard at the gated community where Sun resides mentioned that agents made two visits to the house.

Hochul’s office declined to comment on the raid.

According to WNBC-TV, Hu also declined to comment when contacted by phone on Tuesday.
