FBI Returns Trump Documents Seized During Raid At Mar-a-Lago

The FBI has returned several boxes of files and documents to President Donald Trump, according to reports on Friday. These materials were previously taken during the agency’s unprecedented raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, which took place under the Biden-Harris administration.

“The Department of Justice has just returned the boxes that Deranged Jack Smith made such a big deal about,” Trump announced in a post on Truth Social, calling out the former special counsel who had indicted him over the storage of classified documents at his Florida property after his presidency ended.

“They are being brought down to Florida and will someday be part of the Trump Presidential Library,” Trump added. “Justice finally won out.”

“I did absolutely nothing wrong,” the former president emphasized in the same post. “This was merely an attack on a political opponent that, obviously, did not work well. Justice in our Country will now be restored.”

Trump’s attorney, Alina Habba, confirmed that she personally handled the return of the boxes.

“I just personally loaded the infamous ‘boxes’ back onto Air Force 1 to head home where they belong. Justice has been and will continue to be restored in this country under President Trump. TRUTH AND JUSTICE ALWAYS WIN IN THE END. God Bless America,” Habba wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Earlier this year, the acting Attorney General dismissed over a dozen officials and career attorneys who were closely involved in Jack Smith’s prosecution efforts against Trump. This followed Trump’s election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in November.

Fox News Digital first revealed that Acting Attorney General James McHenry had sent letters to the prosecutors informing them of their termination. In these letters, McHenry explained his decision, stating the individuals could not be trusted to “faithfully implement the president’s agenda.”

According to a DOJ source who spoke to Fox, McHenry distributed the termination letters via email.

During a legal panel on Fox, one network analyst noted that special counsel prosecutors join these investigations voluntarily—they are not automatically assigned. This voluntary nature suggests these prosecutors may have held a personal interest in pursuing Trump’s conviction. McHenry apparently concluded that their personal biases made them unreliable in executing his administration’s goals.

Fox News reported that the exact number of dismissed prosecutors and officials remains unclear, as the DOJ has not released an official list of names.

“Today, Acting Attorney General James McHenry terminated the employment of a number of DOJ officials who played a significant role in prosecuting President Trump,” a DOJ spokesperson confirmed to Fox News. “In light of their actions, the Acting Attorney General does not trust these officials to assist in faithfully implementing the President’s agenda.”

The spokesperson added that this step “is consistent with the mission of ending the weaponization of government.”

The removals also came after several DOJ officials were reassigned during the opening days of the Trump administration to a newly formed Sanctuary City task force and other policy initiatives. This reshuffling reflects Trump’s broader promise to dismantle what he describes as the politicized use of federal agencies.

Jack Smith, who previously served as a Justice Department prosecutor, was appointed as special counsel by former Attorney General Merrick Garland in November 2022.

As special counsel, Smith oversaw the investigation into Trump’s handling of classified materials post-presidency, along with a separate probe into any alleged attempts to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power after the 2020 election, including the certification of the Electoral College results on January 6, 2021.
