FEMA Learns Their Fate After Refusing Help To Trump Supporters
On Saturday, the chairman of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) terminated an employee who allegedly instructed disaster relief workers in Florida not to assist homes displaying Trump signs during Hurricane Milton recovery efforts.
Conservative outlet The Daily Wire reported the incident on Friday, revealing that FEMA head Deanne Criswell confirmed the staff member’s dismissal. According to the report, “a FEMA supervisor told workers in a message to ‘avoid homes advertising Trump’ as they canvassed Lake Placid, Florida to identify residents who could qualify for federal aid,” based on internal communications reviewed by The Daily Wire.
Criswell, who has led FEMA since 2021, addressed the situation in a statement posted on social media on Saturday. She confirmed the reports, emphasizing that the actions in question contradicted FEMA’s “core values.” Sharing a post on X from Fox News, Criswell stated:
More than 22,000 FEMA employees every day adhere to FEMA’s core values and are dedicated to helping people before, during and after disasters, often sacrificing time with their own families to help disaster survivors. Recently, a FEMA employee departed from these values to advise her survivor assistance team to not go to homes with yard signs supporting President-elect Trump. This is a clear violation of FEMA’s core values & principles to help people regardless of their political affiliation.
This was reprehensible. I want to be clear to all of my employees and the American people, this type of behavior and action will not be tolerated at FEMA and we will hold people accountable if they violate these standards of conduct. We take our mission to help everyone before, during and after disasters seriously. This employee has been terminated and we have referred the matter to the Office of Special Counsel. I will continue to do everything I can to make sure this never happens again.
The New York Times reported on Saturday that the government is conducting an investigation into the incident, reaching out to storm victims whose homes may have been overlooked for aid.
The Daily Wire also reported that a group text was sent to a Homeland Security surge capacity force team, allegedly instructing them to avoid helping Americans who supported Trump.
Following the revelation that a FEMA official had instructed agency workers to skip homes of Trump supporters in storm-hit Florida, several congressional Republicans are demanding an explanation.
According to a Saturday evening Fox News report, criminal charges against the dismissed FEMA employee remain under review.
Fox News host Jon Scott addressed the controversy on-air, highlighting the incident reported by The Daily Wire the previous day. Scott remarked, “The Federal Emergency Management Agency is facing major backlash after confirming reports that a supervisor ordered disaster relief workers to avoid homes with Trump yard signs during Hurricane Milton recovery efforts in Florida.” Correspondent Madison Scarpino then reported:
Yeah, the FEMA administrator confirms that the worker behind all of this has been fired after around 20 damaged Florida homes were reportedly ignored because of their residents political affiliation. Now, the Office of Special Counsel is now handling this, but many House and Senate members are outraged and want answers.
Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) also expressed her disapproval to Fox News, saying, “The fact that anyone would make this partisan, especially with how many people lost literally everything to include some of their lives. It’s disheartening. It’s no longer you’re looking at someone else, it’s in another American as an equal. You’re looking at them with political affiliation. And obviously that’s wrong because we know that at the end of the day, everyone’s paying their tax dollars. Not to mention it is political discrimination.”
