FEMA Official Issued Sick Directive During Hurricane Relief: 'Avoid Homes Advertising Trump'

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has responded to a concerning incident involving one of its officials. However, there’s debate over whether the “punishment” measures taken are truly sufficient.

According to The Daily Wire, a FEMA official identified as Marn’i Washington was dismissed from her supervisory role after instructing her team to bypass homes displaying Trump support while assessing hurricane damage in Florida.

Washington allegedly directed workers in the Lake Placid area to “avoid homes advertising Trump” as they conducted damage assessments following Hurricane Milton.

Reports indicate that under these instructions, at least 20 homes thought to belong to Trump supporters were skipped. These homes, without damage assessments, became ineligible for FEMA assistance.

Messages like, “Trump sign no entry per leadership,” were reportedly entered into government logs by FEMA workers on site, according to The Daily Wire.

The employees conducting these assessments were part of a Homeland Security surge capacity team that volunteered to assist FEMA with emergency response efforts.

“I know they’re short-staffed, so I thought we could help make a difference,” one employee told The Daily Wire.

“But when we got there, we were told to discriminate. It’s almost unimaginable that anyone in the federal government would believe this is acceptable.”

The employee emphasized, “I volunteered to help disaster victims, not discriminate against them.”

FEMA acted quickly once the directive came to light, removing Washington from her role and pledging to investigate further.

“We believe this to be an isolated incident,” a FEMA spokesperson told The Daily Wire. “We have taken steps to remove the employee from their position and are conducting a full investigation to ensure this does not occur again.”

The spokesperson added, “The employee who issued this guidance had no authority to direct teams to avoid any homes, and we are reaching out to the homeowners who may have been affected by this incident.”

FEMA stated that it has taken “extreme actions” to address the issue and later confirmed that Washington is no longer with the agency. However, not everyone is convinced this response sufficiently addresses the situation.

Public frustration is evident—not just with FEMA, but with the broader justice and leadership in the country.

If anything, the results of November 5 showed that people are eager to reset the trajectory of the government, the nation, and society as a whole.
