Fisherman Makes Disturbing Election Interference Discovery Near Creek

More than 200 voters missed the chance to hear a Republican House candidate’s perspective on her opponent after campaign mailers were discarded in a New York creek this October.

According to the New York Post, the mail pieces, funded by the state Republican Party, criticized Democratic Rep. Pat Ryan, who is being challenged by Republican Alison Esposito in New York’s 18th Congressional District.

A fisherman discovered between 200 and 250 mailers “torn and shredded” scattered near Sprout Creek, prompting a complaint with the U.S. Postal Service.

“This is clearly an instance of election interference,” said David Laska, a representative for the state Republican Party.

“Someone committed a very serious offense,” Laska added.

The complaint calls for the Postal Service to investigate whether its employees were involved in the mailers’ disposal.

The complaint identifies an unnamed “USPS Employee/Contractor” as the potential party responsible.

“An individual in Wappingers Falls, NY reported to the NY Republican Federal Campaign Committee that around 200-250 political mail pieces were found torn and shredded along Brown Road by Sprout Creek, intended to be mailed under USPS custody,” stated the complaint.

The Postal Service confirmed that it is investigating.

“The U.S. Postal Service is committed to the secure, timely delivery of the nation’s election mail. The Postal Service is aware of a complaint alleging improper handling of political mail being reviewed by the U.S. Postal Service Office of the Inspector General and has nothing further to offer,” said Mark Lawrence, a spokesperson for the Postal Service.

“So far, this is the only batch of mail that has been found, but there could be others,” James Curran, the state Republican Party’s general counsel, noted in the complaint, as reported by Higher Ground Times.

Esposito, a 25-year veteran of the New York Police Department, has made immigration a primary campaign issue.

“This country was founded on lawful immigration, and we must work together to improve the system for those who seek to immigrate legally and achieve the American Dream,” she wrote on her campaign website.

She further stated, “It is evident that under the Biden Administration, there is a manufactured humanitarian and national security crisis.”

“Our southern border is NOT secure, and deadly drugs like fentanyl are plaguing our communities. Over the past year, more than 170 individuals on the terrorist watch list have crossed our border illegally—that we know of,” she added.
