Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich Roasts Pelosi’s J6 Committee

Former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich harshly criticized the January 6 committee, labeling it as "fraudulent," and suggested that the GOP majority should take steps to formally disavow it.

In an appearance on the John Solomon Reports podcast, Gingrich remarked, "This committee, the J6 committee, was so fraudulent, that the current House should repudiate it, define it as an illegal or unethical, runaway investigation of no standing." He further advocated that the House should "send a letter to both the Department of Justice and to the appropriate judges, saying that any action based on the J6 committee should be considered null and void," adding that "people like Steve Bannon should not be going to jail because they want to fight with a committee which was literally operating outside the law."

Gingrich continued by describing the process as "tainted and corrupted," asserting that "it has to be repealed by the House and repudiated by the House." He also urged that "the court and the Justice Department have to take into account that anybody who had a conflict with this committee was dealing with an out of control, illegal operation."

The former Speaker strongly criticized the committee's findings, calling them "based on a totally false product." He defended those who resisted the committee's subpoenas, stating, "we now know, we’re on the right, that in fact, what you have here is a runaway select committee. That was totally dishonest."

Gingrich also directed his criticism toward former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump. "We’re in a period here where the establishment is just sick. And we have a chance to correct the record historically," he said. He expressed his belief that people will be "astonished at how bad Cheney was, how much she broke the rules, and how basically, she wanted to destroy Trump so badly, that she didn’t care that in the process, she was breaking the laws."

He also accused the committee of illegally destroying its records, stating, "This committee destroyed all of its records. Now. That is, that is totally illegal." He argued that what the J6 committee did was "deliberately and methodically" worse than any actions related to records by Trump or Biden, contending that "they did it deliberately. And they did it because they didn’t want other people to figure out what they’ve been doing."

Gingrich also made headlines during an appearance on Fox News' "Hannity," where he criticized Vice President Kamala Harris. "Kamala’s hopeless because she’s Kamala. Anybody who watches her knows the idea of her being President makes Biden look good, which is really hard nowadays," he said.

He further criticized Harris, saying, "She has imprinted on the country, permanently, that she’s a very shallow, uneducated, and uneducable person other than her weird laugh. There’s no significant part of her."

In a previous appearance on "Hannity" in March, Gingrich made similar remarks about the Vice President. "You know, he [Biden] may or may not have cognitive decline problems at his age, but at her age, she’s just dumb," he stated. "Let’s be clear: Kamala Harris may be the dumbest person ever elected vice president in American history, and that’s why people keep resigning."

He also commented on the resignation of Harris's national security adviser, saying, "If you were her national security adviser, and you were competent, and you’d worked hard, and you knew what you were doing, and you watched her in Poland break up laughing when she’s asked about Ukrainian refugees, you had to feel a sense of total humiliation." He concluded, "So I’m not surprised that that particular adviser resigned because it’s very clear that Kamala Harris should never, ever be allowed to leave the country."
