Fox Hosts Rip Colleagues, Biden Over Old, News Scandals
The crew of “Fox & Friends Weekend” launched a scathing critique of President Joe Biden, his administration, and members of the media during a Saturday segment addressing lingering scandals.
White House correspondent Peter Doocy, stepping in as a co-host, opened a segment by condemning some media colleagues for allegedly concealing Biden’s declining mental health for years.
Doocy’s remarks followed a groundbreaking Wall Street Journal report citing over 50 sources who alleged that concerns about Biden’s mental fitness had been present even before his 2020 election win. The report also claimed that staffers and close associates have actively “covered up” the extent of his cognitive decline throughout his presidency.
During his time on Fox & Friends Weekend, Doocy highlighted that none of his fellow White House reporters raised questions about the detailed WSJ piece in the press briefing room after its publication.
The report included statements from Democratic lawmakers, aides, and donors who expressed deep concerns over Biden’s mental sharpness and age, according to Mediaite.
“There were limits over who Biden spoke with, limits on what they said to him, and limits around the sources of information he consumed,” the WSJ reported.
Some of the most shocking claims included that meetings were often canceled on Biden’s “off days” and that staff took measures to minimize one-on-one interactions with him.
Doocy described the revelations as the “biggest cover-up in Washington, D.C., since Watergate.”
“We have another story that’s near and dear to my heart. It has to do with the White House press briefing room,” Doocy remarked. “Yesterday, there were zero questions about this huge Wall Street Journal story that cites 50 people familiar with, apparently, the biggest cover-up in Washington since Watergate.”
“The story, it was 18 pages long when I printed it, but the gist is that there were staff—unelected White House staff—who knew during the last campaign and transition that President Biden might be diminished, and they actively worked to hide that information from the American public,” Doocy continued.
“And we don’t know what it necessarily means for his decision-making, but this is a huge story, and somehow there was no curiosity,” Doocy added. He noted that their colleague Jacqui Heinrich had intended to ask about it but wasn’t called on.
Separately, Biden has faced backlash for commuting the death sentences of nearly all the 40 federal inmates currently on death row, ensuring they won’t face execution even if President-elect Trump takes office.
“Joe Biden just commuted the sentence of a man who orchestrated the murder of a 12-year-old girl and her mother. He nearly beheaded the girl. He shot her in the head four times, and then disposed of her body in a wooded area,” Joey Mannarino posted on X, before using an expletive to criticize Biden.
Out of the 40 individuals on federal death row, Biden commuted the sentences of 37, changing their punishments to life imprisonment without parole, according to DeathPenaltyInfo.org.
The exceptions include Robert Bowers, who carried out the 2018 Tree of Life Synagogue massacre, killing 11; Dylann Roof, who murdered nine Black churchgoers in Charleston in 2015; and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who helped plan the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing that killed three and injured hundreds.
“The men being resentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole are convicted of various murderous acts against one person or multiple,” Fox News reported. “Among the victims of the 37 men are law enforcement officers, children, and other inmates.”
