Fox News Announces Next Chapter for Long-Time Host Dana Perino

Fox News has announced significant career updates for two of its well-known personalities: long-time host Dana Perino and commentator Tyrus.

Dana Perino Launches New Podcast

Dana Perino, co-anchor of America’s Newsroom and co-host of The Five, has debuted her own weekly podcast, Perino on Politics. According to the network, the podcast launched during the same week Fox News hosted the first GOP presidential primary debate and focuses on the 2024 election and beyond.

Perino on Politics,” Fox reported, “examines the 2024 election and beyond by featuring discussions with highly knowledgeable individuals from both within and outside Washington, D.C., including columnists, advisors, pollsters, and political strategists.”

The show’s first guests included strategist Colin Reed and National Review’s senior political correspondent Jim Geraghty.

Perino, who joined Fox News in 2009 after serving as White House Press Secretary under President George W. Bush, has been an integral part of the network’s election coverage. Her programs, America’s Newsroom and The Five, dominate cable news ratings. The Five, which airs before primetime, has been the No. 1 cable news program for seven consecutive quarters, averaging 2.6 million viewers in July.

Tyrus Retires from Wrestling

Fox News personality and former professional wrestler Tyrus, whose real name is George Murdoch, announced his retirement from wrestling following a 15-year career. His final match, a "Tyrus Must Retire" Bull Rope Match, ended in a loss to Ethan Carter III (EC3) at the NWA’s 75th-anniversary event in St. Louis on August 27.

Speaking to SLAM Wrestling, Tyrus revealed that the decision to retire was his own after conversations with his children. “My kids said they wanted daddy to be home more often,” he shared. “It was all my idea.”

Tyrus, who was the NWA’s Heavyweight Champion for 289 days, reflected on his career highlights, including winning the title in November 2022. He defended it successfully four times and participated in numerous tag team matches.

As he transitions out of the ring, Tyrus is focusing on other ventures. His first book, Just Tyrus: A Memoir, was a success and inspired a shortened wrestling timeline. He has a second book set to release soon, with a third in progress. Additionally, Tyrus’s role at Fox News continues to expand, and he is in discussions with filmmakers for future projects.

“The NWA is exploding,” Tyrus said, expressing confidence in EC3 to carry the championship forward. Meanwhile, he looks ahead to growing opportunities at Fox and new creative endeavors.
