Gov. Abbott Responds to Crockett's 'Hot Wheels' Mockery: She's About to Be Left in the Dust

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott criticized Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett, calling her a “hateful airhead” whose divisive rhetoric will only push voters away and hurt her party’s chances in Texas elections.

Crockett sparked controversy after making an offensive remark about Abbott’s disability during a speech at a pro-LGBT event in Los Angeles over the weekend.

During her speech, the Democrat referred to Abbott as “Gov. Hot Wheels.”

Abbott has used a wheelchair for four decades following a devastating accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down.

After facing widespread backlash, Crockett attempted to downplay her remark, insisting that her “Hot Wheels” comment was not about Abbott’s disability but rather a reference to his policy of bussing illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities.

Abbott responded to Crockett’s inflammatory remark, saying it exemplifies the Democratic Party’s struggles, adding that they “have nothing to sell but hate.”

“The reality is, they have no vision, no policy,” Abbott said in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Tuesday.

“They have nothing to sell but hate. And Americans are not buying it. It’s one reason why Texas is going to remain red and why Republicans are going to continue to win elections across the country.”

The governor added, “The bottom line is that Republican states, like Texas, are leading the way. And with comments like this by Democrats, we will just leave them in the dust in future elections.”

Crockett is likely to face further consequences for her remarks.

Republican Representative Randy Weber, who serves alongside Crockett in the Texas delegation, is preparing to introduce a resolution in the House of Representatives to officially censure her.

“[T]he actions of Jasmine Crockett — stooping to vile levels of discrimination and despicable political attacks — are nothing short of reprehensible,” Weber told Fox News.

He called for her to be censured “for the venomous rhetoric she spews as a representative of the Democratic Party.”

“It’s painfully obvious she was never taught a single thing about Texas class, as her behavior is a disgrace to everything Texas and the United States stands for,” Weber emphasized.

Crockett has a history of inflammatory remarks, but her mockery of a disabled individual has crossed a serious line.

Unlike a fashion choice, Abbott’s need for a wheelchair is not something he can change—unlike Crockett’s decision to wear false eyelashes.

As expected, the Texas Democrat faced significant backlash on social media for her comments about Abbott.

While the public has come to expect aggressive rhetoric from Democratic politicians, Crockett’s attack on Abbott represents a new low that reflects poorly on both her and her party.

At minimum, she should be censured.
