Government Caught Misleading Public About Mystery Drones After Shocking Revelations

Federal officials recently provided lawmakers with a classified briefing about unidentified drones observed across several eastern states, spanning from New Jersey to Massachusetts. Following the meeting, one of the government’s most vocal congressional critics accused military and intelligence officials of “lying” to the public.

During the two-hour session involving 28 representatives from the FBI, Pentagon, and Department of Homeland Security (DHS), members of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee attempted to downplay the incident. However, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) offered a starkly different perspective. According to The Hill, Burchett, a longstanding advocate for transparency on UFOs and UAPs, claimed that the intelligence community has “lost control” of the issue.

When questioned by NewsNation’s Blake Burman, “You think the government is lying? I don’t wanna put words in your mouth, but you think they’re — they’re lying on this issue, Congressman?” Burchett replied emphatically: “Oh yeah, I mean, when — when have they ever told us the truth on anything … Come on, this thing has been going on, and … I don’t think they have control of it, and they don’t know what to do, so they’re just gonna lie.”

The mysterious drone sightings have disrupted both urban and rural areas across several states, including New Jersey. Newark International Airport has become a hotspot for unmanned aerial activity. Earlier this week, Belleville Mayor Michael Melham suggested that the drone activity might be linked to “missing radioactive material” that reportedly vanished during transport to a nearby port. “We are aware of a threat that entered through Port Newark.

It could be radioactive material. An alert on the disappearance of radioactive material in New Jersey on December 2nd was issued and is still in effect. It was a package. It reached its final location,” Melham explained on “Good Day New York.” He further clarified, “The crate was damaged and empty.” When asked about the source of this information, Melham asserted, “That came from the U.S. government.”

On Monday, a coalition of federal agencies released a joint letter attributing the surge in drone sightings to “lawful” drone activity, stars, or mistaken identification of commercial aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), FBI, DHS, and Department of Defense (DOD) issued a statement addressing community concerns: “We continue to support state and local authorities with advanced detection technology and support of law enforcement. We urge Congress to enact counter-[unmanned aircraft systems] legislation when it reconvenes that would extend and expand existing counter-drone authorities to identify and mitigate any threat that may emerge.”

Democratic members of the House Intelligence Committee emerged from the briefing to assure the public there’s no evidence of malicious activity. “No. 1, we spent a lot of time in this hearing asking the question in every way imaginable as to whether or not any of these sightings in New Jersey, Connecticut — anywhere they’re being sighted — are federal government operations, and they are not. We were assured, and we asked this question over and over and over again,” said Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), the panel’s top Democrat. “No. 2, they remain committed to their message that there is zero evidence of laws being broken by any of these drones.”

Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) echoed this sentiment: “I think that the message for the American people is that a lot of people from a lot of different organizations at the federal level are taking this very, very seriously. To date, they haven’t found anything that would indicate that there’s foreign influence, foreign actors, or even little green men who are working on the American people.” She added, “It’s really important for the American people to know that as far as all of the organizations are concerned, there is no evident threat coming from any place.”
