Harris Ripped For ‘Word Salad’ Speech To Cast of Broadway Musical

Former Vice President Kamala Harris recently delivered remarks that some have described as a perplexing "word salad" while attempting to inspire the cast of Broadway’s A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical.

Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, took in two Broadway shows over the weekend, the other being Gypsy, according to the New York Post.

Following a standing ovation for A Wonderful World, Harris addressed the cast and crew with a speech.

“When we think about these moments where we see things that are being taken, but also let’s see it, you know, nature abhors a vacuum,” Harris stated in a clip shared on X.

“Where there’s a vacancy, let’s fill it. Let us know that the reality is that the progress of our nation has been about the expansion of rights, not the restriction of rights,” she continued. “We’re seeing a U-turn right now. For those rights to be maintained, which means we have to be vigilant. It’s just the nature of it.”

Her remarks quickly gained attention on social media, with numerous users ridiculing the former vice president and unsuccessful 2024 Democratic presidential candidate. Some even speculated whether she had been drinking before the speech.

“Kamala Harris hit Broadway and, of course, served up her signature word salad. A friendly reminder of what we dodged in the White House,” one person wrote on X.

“I read the transcript and my husband knew right away who it was. She has such a way with words!” another commented.

“She has invented a new language. Harris has retained a self-satirizing gift of gab that is both pompous & empty. ‘Unbourboned by what has Gin,’ which may be the charitable interpretation,” another X user remarked.

This isn’t the first time Harris has faced similar criticism. Previously, she was mocked for delivering a ‘word salad’ speech to firefighters in California as they battled devastating wildfires in the Pacific Palisades and other areas.

“As I said to these courageous and extraordinary firefighters, you know, moments of crisis really do reveal the heroes among us,” she remarked. “We went and visited World Central Kitchen. I mean, the volunteers who were there, some of them who lost their own homes, are there doing the work of taking care of perfect strangers, who, in the face of that stranger, they see a neighbor.”

During her tenure as vice president, Harris once stated: “I grew up understanding the children of the community are the children of the community.”

Since departing from the White House, Harris has avoided discussing her political future amid speculation that she may consider running for governor of California.

Meanwhile, her husband, former Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, has announced that he will be dividing his time between Los Angeles and New York due to his new role as a partner at a law firm. As rumors continue to swirl about Harris’s next steps, Emhoff’s career move has also garnered attention.

“I am delighted to be joining Willkie, where I am looking forward to working alongside trusted and innovative legal counselors,” Emhoff stated in the firm’s announcement. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to join this talented and collaborative team.”

The 60-year-old former entertainment, media, and intellectual property attorney from Los Angeles will be a partner at the firm, focusing on assisting businesses, organizations, and individuals in navigating legal changes and crises.

“Doug’s leadership and his service as a trusted counselor to many global business leaders across a broad range of industries, as well as his extensive legal expertise and business acumen, make him a tremendous asset. We’re thrilled to be adding Doug to the Willkie partnership during this period of transformational firm growth,” firm Chairman Thomas Cerabino stated.
