Harris Won’t Be Campaigning With Biden Before Election Day: Report

Vice President Kamala Harris currently has no plans to join President Joe Biden on the campaign trail leading up to election day. Instead, she is focusing on connecting with the public through high-profile multimillionaire entertainers and former Democratic presidents, aiming to relate to everyday Americans who have faced difficulties under the Biden-Harris administration.

Meanwhile, Biden will lend his support to Harris by leveraging his political relationships, particularly with labor leaders, and by hosting official events at the White House to highlight his administration's successes, NBC News reported. His schedule for the final week before the election remains unsettled, officials noted.

This strategy was crafted by both Harris and Biden’s teams, who believe that “the most important role he can play is doing his job as president,” a White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told NBC News.

“He’s out there doing the job as president, and she’s out there campaigning,” the official said, adding: “It’s clear voters want something new.”

A Harris campaign representative described Biden’s involvement as “tailored,” signaling a notably scaled-back role for the president, who has traditionally been at the forefront of the Democratic ticket.

As the election approaches, Harris is working to convince voters that she represents a fresh direction, rather than merely continuing Biden’s policies. Her team worries that standing alongside Biden could weaken this message and undermine her chances in the critical final stretch.

“Harris has to be establishing herself as a change agent, and it’s hard to do that with a sitting president at her side,” said a longtime Democratic strategist.

“Let me be very clear: My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency,” Harris declared during a Fox News interview on Wednesday.

However, when asked earlier this month on "The View" if there was anything she would have done differently than Biden over the last four years, Harris replied that she couldn’t think of a single thing.

“If anything, would you have done something differently than President Biden during the past four years?” co-host Sunny Hostin asked.

“There is not a thing that comes to mind,” Harris responded, adding, “I’ve been a part of most of the decisions that have had impact.”

She pointed to the administration’s efforts to cap insulin prices and expressed her firm commitment to addressing that issue.

“Allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices and bring the cost of prescription medication down for seniors, but my intention is to expand that for all Americans,” Harris said. “The work we have done to invest in American industries, whether it be in terms of manufacturing and creating almost 800,000 new jobs around manufacturing, those were all a shared priority,” she added.

However, House Republicans, referencing government data, have challenged these claims. They argue that small businesses have struggled, and manufacturing jobs have declined during the Biden-Harris years.

“A stumbling job market is a part of the price Americans are paying as the Federal Reserve tries to clean up the inflation crisis created by the Biden-Harris Administration’s runaway spending,” said Jason Smith (R-Mo.), Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, in September. “The Biden-Harris Administration has spent billions for a manufacturing jobs boom, but really, it’s been a blue-collar bust.”

“America, today, has fewer manufacturing jobs than it did a year ago. Small businesses are getting crushed by failed policies and had to cut over 43,000 jobs just in the last year,” Smith continued. “Make no mistake, the Biden-Harris Administration is no friend to small businesses or workers. Meanwhile, the Administration’s grow-government-first hiring spree continues with another 24,000 new bureaucrats added to the already 1.5 million paid for by Democrats’ reckless spending,” he noted, adding that in August alone, manufacturers cut 24,000 jobs.

“Instead of cutting spending, taxes, and unnecessary regulations, the Biden-Harris plan is to raise taxes on workers, families, farmers, and small businesses by allowing the Trump tax cuts to expire. Their plan for small businesses is to increase tax rates to over 44 percent, a rate more than 20 points higher than that of Communist China,” Smith emphasized.

“That’s why Ways and Means Republican Tax Teams are fighting to restore and extend the Trump tax cuts that have a proven record of helping job creators of all sizes hire new workers and raise wages,” he added.
