‘I Will Never Forgive’: Geraldo Rivera Reveals Who Got Him Fired From ‘The Five’

Geraldo Rivera is no longer with Fox News after a two-decade tenure at the network. Recently, he appeared on "The View" to express his grievances about some of his former colleagues on the air.

During the interview, Rivera mentioned having a "very toxic" dynamic with a former co-host on "The Five," though he refrained from mentioning any names. Unlike Tucker Carlson, who was abruptly taken off the air in late April, Rivera received a more amicable farewell, complete with cake and his colleagues sporting fake mustaches.

Although he didn’t directly name anyone, his departure followed numerous heated exchanges with Greg Gutfeld, with whom he often engaged in on-air arguments.

The 79-year-old acknowledged that his views never fully aligned with the ideological stance of Fox News. While the network offered him a position on a different show after it became clear he could no longer continue on "The Five," he declined, unwilling to accept what he perceived as a demotion from cable television’s top-rated program.

"If you fired me from the No. 1 show, then I’m going to quit. And that’s basically what happened," Rivera stated.

At one point in the interview, Joy Behar seemingly referenced former co-host Jesse Watters, playfully asking Rivera if the 'toxic' individual was “Smeshy Shwaters.”

Rivera laughed off the remark but made it clear that his disputes were with a male colleague.

"I thought it was very unfair that I was not judged objectively in our disputes, but rather he was always favored," he commented.

When questioned about whether Judge Jeanine Pirro was involved, Rivera dismissed the idea, asserting that he actually discovered and admired her. "Check the internet," he added.

Later in the discussion, Rivera expressed that he could "never forgive" Carlson for his coverage of the January 6 Capitol riot, particularly his suggestion that federal agents were among the crowd that day.

In an interview with commentator and comedian Russell Brand on Brand’s podcast, Carlson stated that he had interviewed Steven Sund, the former Capitol Police chief at the time of the riot, but was terminated before the interview could air. According to Carlson, Sund affirmed his long-standing claim that federal agents were heavily present within the rioters.

Carlson also commended former President Donald Trump for his stance on Ukraine, highlighting that Trump appeared to be the only major Washington figure opposing the war and seeking its resolution.

That stance did not sit well with Rivera.

"Due respect to Tucker Carlson, but he’s as full of s**t about Ukraine as he was about January 6th," Rivera tweeted. "His smiley face doesn’t change fact Russia invaded sovereign Ukraine; 1000’s are dead, including women & children, the world order is assailed and Putin is a punk."

Several Twitter users quickly responded to Rivera’s remarks.

One user countered, "Geraldo you are wrong about both… Ukraine and Jan 6th," before adding a jab: "P.S. A mustache is dirtier than a dog’s a**."

Another user criticized U.S. involvement in the war, writing, "Look at the man in the mirror Geraldo. America has zero business being involved in this war period. Both countries are corrupt and both leaders are corrupt but heck so is Joe Biden. This crap is going to get Americans and our children laying dead in the streets!"

A different commenter bluntly stated, "I’d rather have Putin as my neighbor than you Geraldo."

One more user quipped, "Are you still around and butt-hurt that Tucker Carlson is wildly more successful than you ever thought of being?" followed by three laughing emojis.
