Jesse Watters Blasts Media Bias As Outlets Race To Cover For Harris

Fox News' "The Five" co-host Jesse Watters criticized the mainstream media for its obvious pro-Democrat bias, accusing them of rebranding Vice President Kamala Harris as presidential material after previously depicting her as unpopular and potentially a liability for President Joe Biden's reelection campaign.

In a Thursday segment, Watters concurred with the panel’s view that Harris’ contest against former President Donald Trump would be much tighter than expected, attributing this solely to media bias favoring Harris.

“It’s going to be close. And if we had a fair press, this would be a landslide. Democrats would never win another national election again if we had a fair press. Three months before the election, this woman comes out, and she has a record that says I want to get rid of ICE, private health care, guns, and then says, actually, I don’t believe any of that,” he stated.

“It’s like Trump coming out tomorrow and saying we are not going to do the wall, and we are going to raise taxes. What? No! And so the media usually would be curious. Why? What happened here? No. They are scrubbing the internet of this stuff. And then they are censoring pictures of Donald Trump in searches for Donald Trump. And the Democratic Party doesn’t even care,” he continued.

A resurfaced video of then-San Francisco District Attorney Harris has gained attention once again, raising concerns for some voters.

During a 2010 Google-sponsored event, Harris—previously rated the Senate’s most far-left member—openly described herself as a “radical.”

“I read that at the Republican Convention. He [opponent] called me a radical,” Harris said. “So I guess that’s one difference between us.”

“And, yeah, I am radical,” she admitted. “I do believe that we need to get radical, about what we are doing, and take it seriously.”

Harris served as the District Attorney of San Francisco from January 8, 2004, to January 3, 2011, and later as a U.S. senator from January 3, 2017, to January 18, 2021. In 2019, she was labeled the most far-left senator, even surpassing socialist Bernie Sanders (I-VT), according to GovTrack’s scorecard.

Currently, Harris appears to have shifted her stance on several key issues from her unsuccessful 2020 presidential campaign, which critics argue is an attempt to rebrand herself to attract more voters as she positions herself for the 2024 nomination.

As The New York Times reported, Harris was previously on the far left of various issues such as energy, climate, firearms, and immigration. However, her campaign is now attempting to portray her as more moderate, even as Republican operatives unearth numerous old interviews and videos showcasing her previous positions.

Republican Dave McCormick, running against Democratic Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, highlighted Harris’s controversial positions through a compelling montage. The video displayed Harris endorsing extreme ideas, including open borders and a federal firearm confiscation plan disguised as a “mandatory buyback” program.

McCormick’s ad also included clips of Harris supporting various contentious policies, such as the Green New Deal, a ban on fracking and offshore drilling, single-payer health insurance, voting rights for violent felons, and an authoritarian climate policy aimed at reducing red meat consumption.

Republican strategists, like Brad Todd in Pennsylvania, have already started emphasizing Harris’s far-left history. She was once regarded as the most ‘progressive’ member of the U.S. Senate before she joined Biden’s ticket after exiting the 2020 Democratic primaries early.

“The archive is deep,” Todd said, according to the Times. “We will run out of time before we run out of video clips of Kamala Harris saying wacky California liberal things. I’m just not sure that the rest of this campaign includes much besides that.”
