Jim Jordan Endorses Dan Bongino For Secret Service Director
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan recently expressed support for President-elect Donald Trump potentially nominating Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent turned conservative commentator, to lead the Federal Protective Service.
“I think Dan would be great,” the Ohio Republican stated during an interview on podcaster Benny Johnson’s show. “Dan Bongino at the Secret Service would be with us on the change that needs to take place to focus on the mission of that critical agency.”
Reports from Forbes in November indicated that Trump is deliberating between Bongino and Sean Curran for the role.
Bongino has been outspoken in his criticism of the Secret Service following two assassination attempts on Trump’s life over the summer. In one of his writings, Bongino declared, “Let me be perfectly clear: the [first] assassination attempt on President Trump was a catastrophic failure on behalf of the United States Secret Service.”
The fallout from the incidents led to the resignation of former USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle. Following intense questioning by Congress and bipartisan calls for her removal, Cheatle stepped down after the first attempt highlighted what lawmakers described as the agency’s gross incompetence.
Meanwhile, Trump has been filling key roles in his administration, as Forbes previously noted. By November, Trump had appointed several individuals to Senate-confirmed positions and critical roles that do not require Senate approval, such as a White House chief of staff, communications director, and national security adviser.

Just before the November 5th election, Bongino made headlines with claims of internal Republican sabotage targeting Trump’s campaign.
The controversy centered on Trump’s choice of JD Vance as his running mate. Bongino went viral on his “Dan Bongino Show,” where he dismissed media reports suggesting Trump regretted picking Vance as “absolute bullsh*t.” He alleged that leaks from within Trump’s camp had fueled the rumors, citing a Daily Mail report claiming Trump was “melting down” over Vance.
“There’s a lot of internal sabotage going on right now that I honestly did not want to highlight because I like to stay focused on the Democrats and I was hoping it would go away. It’s not,” Bongino said.
The conservative commentator suggested dissatisfaction among some Republicans stemmed from Vance’s stance on Ukraine. According to Bongino, Vance’s cautious approach to U.S. involvement in Ukraine had upset those favoring a more aggressive posture.
“I suspect strongly this was a leak from people who wanted another candidate for vice president,” Bongino asserted, pointing fingers at the “Kellyanne Conway camp.” Conway, who previously served in Trump’s administration, was implicated in Bongino’s accusations of sabotage.
“Some of the other candidates were very interested in a more muscular posture in Ukraine where there was a lot of money to be made for a lot of people. JD Vance is interested in a more cautious approach to Ukraine,” Bongino argued.
Despite the internal strife, Bongino defended Trump and Vance, calling them a “great ticket.” However, he sharply criticized those undermining the campaign.
“Instead of just shutting up and trying to win now with this great ticket, there are people out there sabotaging the ticket right now,” he said.
Bongino also issued a pointed warning to Conway and others he accused of stirring internal division. “You’ve been warned. I’m going to say to Kellyanne and others: It’s time to pipe down. You’ve been warned. I’ve had about enough,” he declared.
