Joe Biden Drops Big Announcement Amid Calls For Him To Leave Race
President Joe Biden experienced another gaffe during a rally in Wisconsin, where he reaffirmed his status as the Democratic Party's presidential nominee.
“There’s been a lot of speculation: What’s Joe going to do? Is he going to stay in the race? Is he going to drop out?” he asked the crowd during his 17-minute speech.
“Here’s my answer: I’m running and going to win again,” he declared, followed by a brief moment of confusion.
“I’m the nominee of the Democratic Party,” Biden stated to the audience in a middle school gym. “You voted for me to be your nominee — no one else.
“Some folks don’t seem to care who you voted for. Guess what? They are trying to push me out of the race. Let me say this as clearly as I can: I’m staying in the race,” he emphasized.
“I will beat Donald Trump,” he continued. “I will beat him again in 2020.”
Biden then corrected himself, saying, “By the way, we’re going to do it again in 2024.”
The president also expressed his willingness to engage in another debate with former President Donald Trump. However, Trump, in a statement on Friday, outlined specific conditions for such a debate.
“I have the answer to the Crooked Joe Biden Incompetence Puzzle — Let’s do another Debate, but this time, no holds barred – An all-on discussion, with just the two of us on stage, talking about the future of our Country. The ratings were massive for the First Debate, record-setting, in fact, but this one, because of the format, would blow everything away! Let Joe explain why he wants Open Borders, with millions of people, and many violent criminals from parts unknown, pouring into our once great Nation, or why he wants Men Playing in Women’s Sports, or demand ALL ELECTRIC VEHICLES within five years, or why he allowed INFLATION TO RUN RAMPANT, destroying the people of our Country, and so much more. It would also, under great pressure, prove his ‘competence,’ or lack thereof. Likewise, it would be yet another test for me. What a great evening it would be, just the two of us, one on one, in a good, old-fashioned Debate, the way they used to be. ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE!!!” the former president posted on his TruthSocial account.
Despite Biden's commitment to the race, there are growing calls for him to step aside in favor of another Democratic candidate.
Former advisor to President Obama, Van Jones, commented on CNN that it's not a question of “if” Biden will step aside, but “when.”
“Look, I’m just going to be honest. I mean, everybody comes on the air and says all this great stuff. But behind the scenes, it’s a full-scale panic. People are passing around legal memos. PDFs are flying back and forth on WhatsApp, trying to figure out what are the options, how can you replace Biden, how do you get him to do it in a way where he feels respected as he should be respected, who should Kamala Harris’ vice president be. The conversation on air and the conversation off air are completely different,” Jones revealed.
“And so it’s the same thing what you saw with the Trump situation, where people would come on air and defend Trump. And then you talk to people, and then we’ve got a crazy candidate. We don’t have a crazy candidate. We have a great candidate. We have a beautiful man. We have someone who loves this country. We have someone who has given his all. I mean, his all to the last drop for this country, but he may not be able to get across the finish line. And a mature party has to take that into account, and that is what’s happening,” Jones added.
