Joe Biden Responds When Asked If He Will Attend Trump Inauguration
President Joe Biden has confirmed that he and First Lady Jill Biden will attend the inauguration of President-elect Trump this January.
In a recent interview with MeidasTouch, host Ben Meiselas asked the outgoing president if he planned to be present at the event.
“Of course I am. The only president I avoided the inauguration of is the guy about to be inaugurated,” Biden stated, referencing Trump's absence from his own inauguration in January 2021.
The White House had already announced in November that both Joe and Jill Biden would be attending Trump’s inauguration.
Prior to the election, Biden made it clear that he intended to attend regardless of the outcome. White House spokesperson Andrew Bates reaffirmed this on Monday while speaking aboard Air Force One, stating that the Bidens are committed to being present.
“The president promised that he would attend the inauguration of whomever won the election,” Bates explained. “He and the first lady are going to honor that promise and attend the inauguration. He views that as an important demonstration of commitment to our democratic values, and to honoring the will of the people, as we continue to provide an orderly and effective transition.”
Meanwhile, White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients has reportedly held several discussions with Susie Wiles, who is set to become the new Chief of Staff in the Trump administration.
On another front, Vice President Kamala Harris appears to be gearing up for her next political move after her significant defeat to Trump. Insiders suggest Harris is determined to remain a force in politics.
“Of course, she’s going to try and run again,” an insider told DailyMail.com, pointing to Harris’s persistent ambition.
Current polling shows Harris as the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028. According to a Puck News/Echelon Insights survey, she holds 41% support among Democrats, while other potential candidates are trailing in the single digits.
However, the same poll also revealed that 59% of Democrats are seeking a fresh face to lead the party, hinting at challenges ahead for Harris.
By 2028, Harris will be 63 years old, leaving her with ample time to mount a political comeback, particularly if Trump’s second term is seen as a failure, DailyMail.com noted. Still, political analysts agree that she must address her communication struggles to become a stronger candidate.
“Even when she’s talking forever, she’s not really saying much at all,” one strategist remarked.
Another Democratic strategist attributed Harris’s challenges to her rapid rise through the political ranks, from district attorney to senator and then vice president.
“This is someone who had a meteoric rise. Her Achilles heel has been not having her own political identity, it created this blanket of caution that really f***d her up,” the strategist commented to DailyMail.com.
“Kamala can run again and hopefully will improve as a messenger, but I think the concerns about her ability to convey a coherent message still remain,” another strategist added.
As speculation grows about the 2028 presidential race, names of potential contenders are already surfacing, given that Trump will be constitutionally barred from seeking a third term.
Vice President-elect JD Vance currently leads the pack with a 25% chance of becoming the 48th president (+300 odds), according to SportsBettingDime.
Should Trump become unable or unwilling to continue serving, Vance, as vice president, would be next in line to assume the presidency.
Historically, only five vice presidents have successfully ascended to the presidency since 1933, as noted by the New York Post.
Vance, 40, is followed in the odds by former First Lady Michelle Obama (+500), California Governor Gavin Newsom (+550), Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (+800), former congresswoman-turned-Republican activist Tulsi Gabbard (+1000), and conservative media figure Tucker Carlson (+1400).
Kamala Harris (+2500) shares her odds with Oprah Winfrey and narrowly edges out Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro (+3300), who many believe could have helped secure Pennsylvania for Democrats had Harris selected him as her running mate.
