Justin Trudeau In Tears After Humiliating Battle With Trump

In his final days as prime minister, Justin Trudeau became emotional while reflecting on his ongoing disputes with President Donald Trump and the impact of U.S. tariffs on Canada.
At 53, Trudeau addressed the press in Ottawa, focusing on healthcare for children. During his speech, he fought back tears while reaffirming his dedication to always putting “Canadians first.”
“On a personal level, I made sure that every single day in this office, I put Canadians first, and I have people’s backs, and that’s why I’m here to tell you all that we got you,” Trudeau said as his voice wavered with emotion.
“Even in the last days of this government, we will not let Canadians down today and well into the future. Because in the past few weeks, we’ve been working with our provincial and territorial partners to make sure that families can rely on this system, not just for years to come, but will allow this system to lock in to become something that no government a year from now, five years from now, 20 years from now, could ever go back on.”

He emphasized that Canadians should be “very clear on the need to keep this going” as a new administration prepares to take over. Trudeau has served as prime minister since 2015.
Facing an unlikely re-election victory, Trudeau announced on January 6 that he would be stepping down as leader of the Liberal Party.
He is expected to officially leave his position following his party’s leadership elections on Sunday.
The next Canadian federal election is not scheduled until at least October 20, 2025, once a new leader is selected by the Liberal Party.
Since taking office in January, Trump, 78, has repeatedly mocked the outgoing Canadian leader, referring to him as a “governor” and even joking that Canada should become the “51st State” of the United States.
Trump has also criticized Trudeau, accusing him of delaying negotiations to prolong his leadership of the Liberal Party.
“Believe it or not, despite the terrible job he’s done for Canada, I think that Justin Trudeau is using the Tariff problem, which he has largely caused, in order to run again for Prime Minister,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “So much fun to watch!”
Shortly after assuming office, Trump warned that he would impose a 25% tariff on all Canadian and Mexican goods unless both nations took action to curb fentanyl trafficking and illegal immigration into the U.S.
On Wednesday, Trump followed through on his threat, announcing the 25% tariffs after stating that Canada and Mexico had failed to meet his conditions.
In response, Trudeau accused Trump of instigating a “dumb” trade war with Canada and attempting to weaken its economy for political leverage.
“We will never be the 51st state, but he can do damage to the Canadian economy, and he’s started this morning, but he is rapidly going to find out as American families are going to find out, that that’s going to hurt people on both sides of the border,” Trudeau remarked.
However, on Thursday, Trump signed two executive orders temporarily suspending the tariffs for one month. These suspensions were based on a trade agreement negotiated during his previous term.
Under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), approximately 38% of imports from Canada and 50% from Mexico are subject to specific trade regulations.
According to a White House official, the new 25% tariffs on all goods will not take effect until April 2.
