Kamala Called Trump To Concede; Team Trump Reveals What She Said

Vice President Kamala Harris called President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday, formally conceding in the presidential election.

Trump's team has since shared some details from their conversation.

According to a senior aide, Harris reached out to congratulate Trump, and her campaign manager, Jen O’Malley Dillon, informed staff that Harris assured Trump she would work to ensure a "peaceful handover of power" from Biden’s administration.

O’Malley Dillon praised the efforts of Harris’s campaign, stating, "You left everything on the field. You built a first-rate, historic presidential campaign in basically 90 days. You navigated things that no one has ever had to navigate, and likely no one will ever have to again." Acknowledging the difficulty of the loss, she added, "Losing is unfathomably painful. It is hard. This will take a long time to process. But the work of protecting America from the impacts of a Trump presidency starts now."

Trump’s campaign communications director, Steven Cheung, said Trump "acknowledged Vice President Harris on her strength, professionalism, and tenacity throughout the campaign," noting that both leaders expressed a commitment to "unifying the country."

This update comes as Trump was projected to win Arizona, clinching victories in every battleground state in the 2024 race against Harris.

In total, Trump secured all seven competitive states: Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Arizona.

With these wins, Trump amassed 312 Electoral College votes, the highest of any candidate.

Pre-election polling indicated a close race, with Trump leading Harris by an average of 2.8 points ahead of Election Day. In Arizona, spending on election ads increased notably, surpassing 2020 figures. According to the Daily Wire, in 2020, "$427 million was spent in the state by both parties for all political races." In 2024, that number rose to $487 million, with Democrats spending "$308 million to $147 million for Republicans." Specifically for the 2024 presidential race in Arizona, Democrats outspent Republicans "$122 million to $83 million."

After Trump was declared the winner, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance expressed his gratitude on X, formerly Twitter, applauding supporters after a significant Republican victory.

“THANK YOU! To my beautiful wife for making it possible to do this. To President Donald J. Trump, for giving me such an opportunity to serve our country at this level. And to the American people, for their trust. I will never stop fighting for ALL of you,” Vance posted.

During his victory speech at Trump Headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump said that “God spared [his] life for a reason,” a sentiment he shared with the crowd, highlighting his appreciation for a second term. Trump has reportedly survived two assassination attempts since July.

“This is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again,” Trump declared. He proudly referenced his battleground victories, “And in addition to having won the battleground states of North Carolina — I love these places — Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, we are now winning in Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, and Alaska, which would result in us carrying at least 315 electoral votes. But it’s much easier doing what the networks did, or whoever called it, because there was no other path. There was no other path to victory. We also have won the popular vote. That was great. That was great,” he said as the audience cheered with chants of “USA! USA!”

Reflecting on his purpose, Trump said, “Many people have told me that God spared my life for a reason, and that reason was to save our country and to restore America to greatness.” He concluded, “And now we are going to fulfill that mission together.”

“Thank you. Thank you very much. Winning the popular vote was very nice, I will tell you. It’s a great feeling of love,” Trump continued. “We have a great feeling of love in this very large room, with unbelievable people standing by my side. These people have been incredible. They have made the journey with me, and we are going to make you very happy. We will make you very proud of your vote,” he promised.
