Kamala Harris Copies One of Trump's Signature Campaign Promises, But Her Past Betrays Her

Vice President Kamala Harris faces a significant authenticity issue that could disqualify her from high office outside of the Democratic Party.

Recently, at a campaign rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, Harris echoed one of former President Donald Trump’s proposals by promising to “eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers,” as reported by The Washington Post.

Trump responded on the social media platform Truth Social, pointing out a critical inconsistency.

“This is the real Kamala!” Trump wrote, sharing a link to an IRS news release from February 6, 2023.

The release detailed the IRS’s announcement of a “proposed revenue procedure that would establish the Service Industry Tip Compliance Agreement (SITCA) program.” This program aims to enhance tip reporting compliance by utilizing advancements in technology, such as point-of-sale systems, time and attendance systems, and electronic payment methods.

Trump questioned Harris’s sincerity, noting that if she truly supported his idea, why did President Joe Biden’s IRS introduce the SITCA program? And where was Harris’s stance on the issue 18 months ago?

Later on Saturday, Trump further criticized Harris for what he described as her opportunistic appropriation of his policy.

“Kamala Harris, whose ‘Honeymoon’ period is ENDING, and is starting to get hammered in the Polls, just copied my NO TAXES ON TIPS Policy. The difference is, she won’t do it, she just wants it for Political Purposes! This was a TRUMP idea — She has no ideas, she can only steal from me. Remember, Kamala has proposed the LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN HISTORY – It won’t happen. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!” Trump wrote.

Harris made this promise at a rally held at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, home to the William F. Harrah College of Hospitality, which promotes itself as “the world’s preeminent hospitality management school.” The event seemed like a convenient opportunity for Harris to co-opt Trump’s idea in a setting filled with hospitality workers.

Despite having the power, Democrats in Congress and the Biden administration have not taken action on taxes related to tips—likely because doing so would require them to prioritize the interests of American workers over other agendas.

Harris’s credibility is further called into question by this move. Many doubt that, if elected president, she would follow through on this borrowed campaign promise. Her actions reveal a pattern of what some see as phoniness and intellectual dishonesty, traits that, unfortunately, might be seen as assets in a party that some argue favors superficial slogans over substantive truth.
