Kamala Harris Rally Reportedly Descends Into 'Complete Chaos,' Volunteer Breaks Down in Tears
A rally for Vice President Kamala Harris near Detroit, Michigan, on Wednesday night reportedly descended into “complete chaos” as attendees grew frustrated over the disorganized shuttle service meant to return them to their cars.
According to MLive, the event, which drew approximately 15,000 people, was held at a hangar at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
During the event, Harris faced some opposition from the crowd.
“Kamala, Kamala, you can’t hide, we won’t vote for genocide,” chanted pro-Palestinian protesters as she addressed the audience.
Harris was criticizing what she described as Trump’s positions on climate change, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act when she paused her speech to respond to the protesters, saying, “You know what? If you want Donald Trump to win, then say that; Otherwise I’m speaking,” a comment that was met with applause from the crowd.
However, MLive reported that the positive atmosphere shifted dramatically after the event ended around 8:30 p.m., when attendees attempted to board shuttles back to their vehicles.
“People were frustrated as they wondered what was happening and where they needed to go. While some sat in folding chairs or on the grass, others were standing while trying to figure out where each bus was heading,” the news outlet described.
Josiah Lippincott, one of the rally attendees, shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Complete chaos after the Detroit Kamala rally. It has been 2.5 hours and people are still unable to find shuttles back to their cars.
“Campaign staff has no idea what is happening. Rally was held near a UPS delivery center so dozens of trucks are mixed up with the buses. Tempers are high,” he continued.
Lippincott added, “A Kamala volunteer just broke down into tears.”
He also noted, “There was no organization or signs showing rally goers how to get on the right bus. Total mess.”
“The larger white buses in the above photos are not shuttles. Those were for union members and others who were bused in by the campaign,” Lippincott explained.
At one point, Lippincott witnessed one of Harris’ campaign workers engage in a “verbal and physical altercation with an attendee.”
