Kari Lake Makes Announcement About Her Future In Politics
Republican Kari Lake has emerged as a significant figure in the Make America Great Again movement, gaining recognition on a national scale.
However, her widespread popularity has not translated into electoral success in Arizona. She faced defeats in both her 2022 gubernatorial bid and her 2024 Senate race.
During her appearance at TurningPoint USA’s “Americafest 2024,” held in Phoenix, Arizona, Lake shared her future plans in the political arena.
“I am gonna go help President Trump in Washington, D.C. That’s what I’m gonna do,” she declared, emphasizing that she has no intention of running for office again.
She elaborated, “We’re not where we need to be on elections. And that’s one of the reasons I don’t want to run again, to be honest. Why put yourself through that torture again?”
President-elect Donald Trump has since announced that Lake, a former news anchor, has been nominated to lead Voice of America, a government-funded international media organization.
“I am pleased to announce that Kari Lake will serve as our next Director of the Voice of America,” Trump stated. “She will be appointed by, and work closely with, our next head of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, who I will announce soon, to ensure that the American values of Freedom and Liberty are broadcast around the World FAIRLY and ACCURATELY, unlike the lies spread by the Fake News Media.”
Expressing her gratitude, Lake wrote on X, “I am honored that President Trump has asked me to lead the Voice of America. VOA is a vital international media outlet dedicated to advancing the interests of the United States by engaging directly with people across the globe and promoting democracy and truth.”
Earlier reports suggested Lake was being considered for a different role, possibly as Trump’s ambassador to Mexico.
A long-time ally of Trump, Lake has consistently supported his strong stance on border security. Despite this, she recently lost her Senate race to Democrat Ruben Gallego, following her unsuccessful 2022 gubernatorial campaign.
Semafor highlighted Lake’s evolving political approach: “A staunch Trump ally, Lake has remained close to the president-elect over the last few years, backing his unproven claims that the 2020 election was stolen. During her most recent run for office, Lake sought to moderate some of her positions, particularly on the topic of abortion. She also made efforts to mend fences with some establishment Republicans whom she had sparred with in the past.”
Lake’s immigration policies reflect Trump’s influence. On the campaign trail, she described the surge of migrants as an “invasion” and advocated for finishing the border wall, increasing the number of judges handling asylum cases, accelerating deportations, and expanding border detention facilities.
Lake also addressed rumors about her career direction during an interview on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast. Responding to reports that she was joining Newsmax, she dismissed them as “absolutely fake news.”
“You cannot hate them enough, Steve. You really, really can’t,” Lake told Bannon, a close Trump ally, while outlining how both she and Newsmax had denied the claims before the story was published.
“They reached out to me, asked if I was negotiating with Newsmax. I said, no, you know, get better sources. You’re wrong. Apparently, they reached out to Newsmax. Newsmax said it’s false, and they run the story anyway,” she explained.
