Karoline Leavitt Says 'A Lot of People in This City' Should Be 'Very, Very Nervous' About Dan Bongino's FBI Appointment

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a strong message to Washington insiders unsettled by Dan Bongino’s selection as deputy director of the FBI.

President Donald Trump tapped Bongino for the role on Sunday, bringing in a conservative commentator with a background as a former Secret Service special agent and someone who operates outside of the federal government’s inner circles.

During a press briefing on Tuesday, Leavitt pointed out that these very qualities make Bongino a formidable choice.

“I’m not sure if anybody in this room has listened to Mr. Bongino when he talks about the past corruption at the FBI, when he talks about his experience serving for the United States Secret Service,” Leavitt told reporters.

“This is a man who loves his country and who has honorably served our country in ways that many people have not.”

She stressed that Bongino “understands the depth of the corruption at these institutions, which the American people re-elected President Trump to shake up.”

Leavitt also criticized mainstream media for their portrayal of Bongino.

“I think it’s quite despicable to see many networks in this room who have had chyrons on their television screens labeling Mr. Bongino as a far-right podcaster. He is not. He is a former law enforcement agent,” she stated.

“He is a former Secret Service agent who put his life on the line to protect this country. And that is why the president of the United States has entrusted him for this important role.”

She then cautioned bureaucrats about underestimating the impact of his appointment.

“He’s also an outsider to this Washington swamp, and we often see that when outsiders are appointed to such coveted positions, a lot of people in this city get very, very nervous,” Leavitt warned.

“They should be, because Dan Bongino and Kash Patel and Attorney General Bondi are focused on rooting out the corruption at these agencies and ending the weaponization of government once and for all.”

Bongino’s lack of previous leadership at a high-ranking law enforcement agency is not the real concern in Washington.

His past Secret Service experience or even his conservative stance are not what truly unsettle the establishment.

What truly alarms them is his unpredictability.

As Leavitt noted, his drive to expose corruption and act in the interest of the American people makes him a threat to the entrenched powers.

That is precisely why Trump selected him. Sometimes, only an outsider untainted by corruption can truly reform a broken institution.

If the elite are feeling “very, very nervous,” that could be a promising sign for the changes ahead.
